Any Penalties From Thailand For Thai's Who Overstay Overseas

My wife has a couple of Thai friends who have over stayed there U.S. visa (approx 8 years) who want to come back to Thailand. They asked me if they will have to pay any fines for over staying.

As far as I know, as long as they do not get caught by U.S. Immagration on there way out I think they would be ok. I don't know what to expect from the Thai Immagration. I can't ever remember seeing any U.S. immagration on my way out of the U.S. Other than security checks and the airline check in counter know ones ever asked to see our passports on the way out.

Does anyone have any info on what they can expect when they return to Thailand?

thanks

I don't know about Thailand.

However here in the USA illegals seem to get away with about everything short or murder...

They could probably turn themselves into immigration in the US and the US taxpayers would pay for their ticket home.

If they hang around just a little bit longer, the US will probably come out with some sort of amnesty for illegal aliens before very long. That would allow them to get a greencard.

Yes their passports are valid, as they just renewed them @ 2 years ago.

I am not encouraging them to stay and hope for a green card. I personally would like to see them return to Thailand or atleast far enough away from my home so the can not bother my wife and I. They are worst than kids. Every little thing the come running to us for help.

not to metion that the one lady makes $3000.00 US and does not or has not paid 1 cent in taxes. That 228,000 US dollars tax free. That kind chaps my arse a bit.

Don't they check at the airline counter on the way out? I think if they get on the flight somehow they won't have a problem getting into Thailand.

Isnt there an open border between the USA and Canada, if so tell them to go there overland then fly to Thailand, im sure Canadian officials wont give a <deleted> if theyve overstayed in Sherman Tank land.

Can not see how they could leave the US and not get caught by immigration for overstaying their visa, at the minimum they will not be allowed back into the US.

US immigration will stamp their passports with DEPORTED or some such word and probably escort them onto the departing aircraft.

I do not know if US immigration would inform their Thai counterparts but if Thai immigration see they have been deported they would be questioned as to why.

I know latley they have been trying to find out if a person in jail in the US is an illegal allein or not, because if so, American tax payers are haveing to pay for their jail time.

Of course the Mexicans are upset about claiming this to be unfair blah blah blah. Mexicans would even rather be in a US prison than be in Mexico.... I kinda like Tamales... but I guess they get that too in prison.

Point is, I doubt they would do in jail time, even though I think they should.

If they turn themselves in to US immigration, they will have to stay at an immigration jail for a 1 month and then stand trail. Then they will send them home. Regarding punishments in Thailand, there won't be any punishment but I think their passport is probably already expired so have them go consult the nearest Thai consulate in the US to try to obtain a new passport.

You don't have to clear immigration to leave the US. As long as you have a valid passport, you can board the plain. The airlines don't check your visa on exiting the country. So, in other words, they can just leave.

Thailand also does not care as long as they have a valid Thai passport. (And even if it was expired, they could get in renewed at the Royal Thai Embassy or just show up in Thailand. ) Immigration will make them sign a few forms on arrival, but that's about it.

Believe it or not she is a waitress. She works at one of the few oriental resturants in a small paper mill town. This town also has the distinction of having more millionaires per capita than any other town in the U.S.

The owner is getting cold feet about having illegals work for him so now he told her to leave. Plus the word got out about how much money she was making so now all the much younger and prettier legal Thai girls are bucking for her job.

But I believe they can be voluntarily deported. So they would not have to stand trial and wait that long. I think that is only if you fight it.
