TWO KOREAN GIRLS MURDURED ON KOH LARN, PATTAYA

Pattaya, on Koh Larn (Coral Island), Two Korean tourist girls were found dead on a deserted beach. The victims were attacked with hard object on their heads. Police suspected of a robbery.

On April 11, 2008, at 3pm, Pattaya police was notified that two foreign women were found dead near the reef on Tha-Rai beach, Koh Larn, Moo 7, Naklua, Banglamung. Police officers and Chonburi investigator rushed to Koh Larn to investigate.

Question: Is Pattaya a dangerous tourist destination for non-Thai females?

It's dangerous for females of any nationality. Sadly, sexual assaults and battery happens to Thai

women far more often but it doesn't receive nearly the same press play. Here, even two girls

travelling together are not safe. Embassies really need to upgrade warnings on their websites. :o

Pattaya is like any other big city in the world. Let common sense rule, and if you have no common sense than yes it can be dangerous.

Barry

agree o n them sentiments barry however if the post is correct 2 laidies togeather, on a main tourist resort beech, at 3pm in the afternoon, end up dead for whatever reason, thats pretty much as bad as it can get!! :o

The sad fact is that the local criminals and low life know full well that the BIB are totally impotent and/or don't care and/or are in league with the perpetrators.

Even if they are caught (and it is not a 'fall guy', which is ususually the case following an international outcry), they rarely stay in jail very long, if at all.

So It's virtually a free for all for crime, and the rich Pattaya toursists (along with Phuket and Koh Samui) are a magnet for all the druggies and dregs of Thailand.

It will only get worse. Mark my words.

Local TV news is best taken with a pinch or salt, however when I saw this incident on the news over the weekend the reporter said that 'they' belived that one girl had killed the other with a rock then commited sucide by tying her hand to the body and then drowning herself.

Murder sucide -> farang on farang -> no adverse impact on Thai tourism?

Wait till (if) the crackdown on drugs start again in earnest, with the resulting skyrocketing in prices of the products.

Addicts won't say "wow, it's a tad on the expensive side now, lets kick the habit" but rather, "let's find some more lucrative ways to increase our disposable income, preferably without working"...

You hit the nail on the head there.

...and when the prices skyrocket the producers and distributors of the drugs really start raking it in. It's a vicious cycle - end result: more crime.

Just typical of whats happening here in pattaya. My advise for friends/family is NOT to come to this area but go to somewhere safer in thailand,if there is such a place. The pathetic justice system is allowing thais to do horrendous crimes and get away with it.

Fot the police to say it was a murder and then suicide just about sums up the way these corrupt, uneducated people think.

The take of the ABC is much more moderate, they talk of possible drowning:

S Korean twins found dead on Thai beach: police

Posted Sun Apr 13, 2008 11:49pm AEST

Twin sisters from South Korea have been found dead on a beach near Thailand's famous Pattaya resort town, local police and the South Korean foreign ministry said.

The women, aged 27, had apparently drowned, and police are investigating whether it was murder, a double-suicide or an accident, Lieutenant Colonel Sumeth Harnvisai said.

"Initial forensic reports indicate that there were no wounds on the bodies, and the water found in their lungs suggests they drowned," he said.

The bodies were discovered near each other on Lan Island off the coast of eastern Thailand early Friday morning, he said.

A page ripped from a passport found near the bodies indicated they were South Korean.

Seoul's foreign ministry later identified the women as Park Ji-Hee and Park Mi-Hee. They gave no other details.

Pattaya is one of Thailand's most popular tourist destinations, but also has a seamy reputation for crime rings, sex tourism and hedonism.

Two female Russian tourists were found shot dead and slumped in deckchairs on a Pattaya beach last year.
