U.s.a. Tax Real Estate Question, Re: Thai Property

Featured Replies

if i buy a home in thailand and sell it a few years later, how much taxes will i have to pay to sell it both in thailand, and in the US? so if i sell it in thailand, then transfer the proceedes back into the USA, what will the USA taxes on the sale be?

is it an easy or complicated thing to do?

thanks, folks.

Great question.

I don't know so hopefully somebody does.

My Thai home is my primary residence, I use the address on my US tax forms and own no US home, so I am assuming I am subject to the same tax on profit exemption as if my primary residence was in the US on sale. Experts, is this correct?
