Hi all,

I have to travel from Petchaburi to Khon Kaen and would like to know:

1. What are the departure times of the busses from Mo Chit?

2. What is the best service available?

i.e. Is there a service that doesn't stop at all and sundry as I would like to get there reasonably quickly and in reasonable comfort.

3. How much can I expect to pay?

4. Would you know the booth number for the best service?

5. Where is the bus station in Khon Kaen?

6. How long does it take to get to Khon kaen?

In the past I have ended up on some real boneshakers but want to avoid that this time because it is a long distance to travel.

Thank you for any advice / information.

1) almost hourly sometimes every half hour (believe the first one goes around 8am and the last 8 pm

2) I would say chan tours - 3 big seats in row - think of old style businessclass flights - VIP24 busses have 9 seats downstairs and rest upstairs, do not take seat downstairs and not on first row)

3) I believe it was 340 to 380 baht maybe up to 430

4) do not know the booth number, but take upper floor, 2nd entrance, then walk towards the booths on the back side, then turn around and look at the right corner booth of the row in the middle of the hall (not the row at the outside but facing same way). (they depart from I believe 19 or 29)

5) you will end up in the middle of Khon Kaen at the aircon busstation where tuk tuks are available to bring you to the hotel

6) as many hours as the number of this question (sorry had to be smarty pants. 4 hours till Korat where there is a short stop and then another 2 to KK. at the start they might stop at future retail park to pick up passengers if not full but that is the only 2 stops made)

Answer to #2: Nakorn Chai Air Ltd. by far! Serves a small snack on board (saves time--no meal stops halfway through the journey), restrooms, very clean, very safe, always on time. About 400 baht. When you get to Mochit, just ask anyone "Nakorn Chai Air," and they'll point you in the right direction. Buses leaving frequently throughout the day. About a 6-hour trip, while other companies take 7-8 hours for the same trip...
