Thai Computer To Australian Voltage

Featured Replies

This is similiar to another thread going but regarding Australian voltage and postage/shipping. Planning on going back to oz and am wondering:-

1) My computer bought in Thailand is AC 230V 50Hz; Screen is AC 100-240V 50/60Hz - Australian voltage is 240V 50Hz

Obviously, the screen should be ok but what do I do about the difference in voltage for the computer?

2) What's the best way to get my computer back to Australia? I've considered just taking the screen in carry on as it's so thin, but don't know if you can carry fragile "luggage" as checked in baggage?? How about posting it? I'm not sure about cost or because it's fragile and electrical equipment if I can just post it to oz with no problems? The computer is less then a year old and I'm not so financially well off to just buy a new com back in Australia so considering my options of what to do.

I'm not shipping anything else back as only taking a couple of suitcases and willing to pay a bit for excess baggage in the event I'm slightly over.

Anyone with any ideas? Thanks for your input.

It will all work fine in. I know because i done the same as you. BTW i sent mine through a company.

Thanks Jockstar. So, I don't need a voltage adapter or whathaveyou? Did you only send the computer or a lot of other stuff too? If only the comp, can you let me know how much and who? Thanks again, you're a star :o

I sent my Pc and a load of other stuff to Sydney. The company was recommended by a friend as he uses them quite alot. It was near the Bayoke Tower. Cant remember the name. Sorry. We sent 7 tea chest size boxes and i think it cost us about 27K baht if i remember correctly.
