Experiences With Dentists In Pattaya!

I have been to a few dentists in Pattaya over the years. These both include the smaller offices on Central and South Pattaya road, as well as the bigger dental centers in both "Expat" oriented hospitals and lastly one on 3rd road which also targets expats.. The last one was for bridge work which was really badly done, which I must have redone by a real professional. It is easy enough to get a good check up and cleaning and/or small fillings but my experience here is that anything beyond that and you are headed for some real bad work. I have heard good things about the Dental Hospital in Bangkok on Soi 49...Has anyone been satisfied with recent bridgework in Pattaya or Bangkok? Suggestions are welcome. :o

For teeth cleaning I use a doctor that comes to Bangkok Pattaya hospital only on Mondays. He is a pariodontal specialist and does a good deep root cleaning. For other dental work I use the dental clinic on south Pattaya rd accross from the day night sign. Him and his wife are both dentists and are very good. I had a gold inlay come out on the 15th of this month and he put it back in for 300 Baht. A friend of mine had a problem over a year ago and he fixed it and it's still good. Speaks good English.

Best Denatl place by far in Thailand is the Dental Hospital Sukhumvit Soi 49 BKK but pheang mak mak. First visit there and was seen by 5 different dentists each specialising in different areas of dentistry. But like I said expensive and only for the well off or if you have dental insurance, I had a root canal done, total cost about 30000 baht.

Haven't been able to find any dentist in Pattaya anywhere near as good.

Are you serious ? 30,000 baht for a root canal ? :o

I went to a dentist on S Pattaya Road, near soi Hollywood, and had a root canal and 2 fillings done for 2,600 baht. I was surprised at how cheap it was. The place was recommended to me by Thai friends.

Had to do two appointments. After the first one, the receptionist asked if I would like to make a partial payment. I was kind of wondering why I wasn't being asked to pay the full amount. I asked her how much the total was going to be. 2,600 baht (which included the x-rays, fillings and root canal). I asked her if I could just pay the whole bill then.

It's a small shop house dentistry, but clean and appears professionally run (and had a bunch of cute assistants). I'll be going there again to get some more work done soon. Hopefully it's still the same.

Several years ago, I had 3 teeth restored with posts and crowns at Bangkok Pattaya Hospital.

Back in the UK, I went for my annual check-up and naturally had to tell my long-time dentist there about the work. He seemed a bit miffed and insisted on having the work X-rayed.

However, when he saw the result, his words were "That is some of the best dentistry I have ever seen."

I had plates made at the Smile dentist near 2nd road/Pattaya Tai road opposite the school and my dentist here said it was excellent work. Forget cost now but was cheap. Had a 1st crown done at Pattaya Memorial, being ignorant I accepted the recommended porcelain crown - in the back of the mouth - and paid a fortune. Still there though.

I just want a cheap but good dentist for the routine cleaning and scaling twice a year. IMO the international hsps rip you off for that simple procedure. My most recent cleaning at Bangkok-Pattaya Hsp was B800 (I'll never go there again unless I have a dire medical emergency). The cartel of small dental clinics around PTY now try to charge B700. Last time I was in Siricha I rode by Dental Corner behind Robinson's that somebody recommended and saw B700 for scaling on the sign in the window. I think B400 or at most B500 is about right for that simple, short procedure in my case.

i have mine done there and the simple short procedure you refer to took her over an hour with no stops for tea.....i know, please do not ask what took so her long.

i can only comment that afterwards i could feel every nook and cranny

worth the money, yes indeed.

Just recently I had a large chunk of one of my teeth fall out. Then, a couple days before my vacation ended, another tooth cracked (almost split in half).

Went to that dentist I mentioned before (by the corner of soi Hollywood and Pattaya Tai). Had to wait a couple of minutes to see the doc (didn't have an appointment). He checked my previous x-rays, had a quick check of the problem(s) and got to work.

About 40 minutes later (after nearly falling asleep in the chair), I was finished and on my way. Total cost to repair the two teeth ? 1,000 baht.

While paying, I had a look at the price chart at the front desk. Root canals (incisors) 1,000 baht. Root Canals on molars - 4,000 baht. That is about their most expensive item. It also appears that their prices/fees haven't changed in at least 2 years.

Had a bridge replacement done at Bangkok-Pattaya Hosp. Dental Clinic about 3 years ago.

It literally FELL APART this year. My dentist in the US did wonder what material they used when he looked it over a few years ago.

I have just had it replaced at St. Louis Hospital Dental Clinic in Bangkok. I would not use Bangkok-Pattaya hospital again for teeth.

great info guys, especially since I'm looking at getting some work done.

Last time I went to Bangkok Pattaya Hospital (about 2 years ago) for a clean and whitening (never again - laser so painfull :D ) and I recall it was a small fortune.

Now I need to get my teeth checked again - suspect some cavities in my back teeth and dreading the treatment. Never had a filling in life (not too bad for a 35 years old :o ) so don't have a clue what to expect! Also want somewhere that does excellent work doing facings/veneers.

Ah...Pluto...

I would think a harley-riding (as per avatar), pit-bull owning guy like yourself should just buy the tools and do it yourself. :o

You know what they say..

If you want a job done right, do it yourself! :D

Msfigure, if you have the time go to Bangkok. Dental hospital sukhumvit soi49.

Off subject but where did you get the Pittbull in your avatar..I am looking for a pup at the moment.Thanks.

Thanks for the recommendation - will check out the Bangkok hospital.

As for the pitbull in my avatar - My babies are actually Dogo Argentinos.

Many people do confuse them as pitbulls though... Dogos are a generally bigger dog compared to different pitbull breeds, and the only similarities with PBs being overly protective of their immediate family & property. Dogos are definitely a very special breed but definitely not for everyone :o

Not sure of the name (lost the card I had) but I think it was something like "Smile Dentist" (on the appointment card). As for the address, do you know South Pattaya at all?

The clinic is on South Pattaya road, same side and two blocks down from TukCom.

I just used MapJack (from MapJack.com) to get a picture of the place, added some text boxes and arrows in power-point and then saved the slides as .jpgs to upload here (sheesh, just about 20 minutes of work to show a picture !).

  • 4 weeks later...
how about APC clinic on soi 5?

anyone know it ?

how much for root treetement in pattaya ? where should i go for it ? (1 tooth)

thx

In August of last year, I had a root canal (1 tooth) and (2) fillings done at the clinic I described above. 2,600 baht total and no problems ever since (with the work they did).

Was back there at the end of April (cracked tooth and a filling - 1,000 baht). Looked at their "price list" and saw that the costs are the same for all the treatments, as they were 2 years ago.

not using cost as a consideration since they are not the cheapest in thailand. I use Dr Threprasit at Bangkok/Pattaya hospital. He speaks better english than I do, was trained and lived in the states for 20 years. best dentist i have ever come across anywhere. I am claustrophobic and have trouble breathing when laying flat. they both went to great lengths to help me with it and it worked. getting implants and he sent me to the implant specialist and same experience. great dentists, great service at BPH.

disclaimer I dont have any financial interest in BPH

Just dug this out of the archives after feeling like I was ripped off at Pattaya International Hosptial Dental Clinic where my son was seen this morning.

I often expect it to happen to me but double pricing my son is pretty low in my book, funny it never happens when he goes with his mom :o

My wife needs to get a single crown done. As we have dental insurance price is no the object but the quality of service is. I am leaning toward BPH but after reading the posts I am more confused than ever about where she should get the work done. :o

I have been to BPH many times and will never go back. Go to Dental Hospital BKK....Suk soi 49......by far the best dental facility around.
