I'm looking for a good doctor to perform some cosmetic eyelid surgery. I've been to Yanhee and they bragged about how many they do each year, but no one was willing to show me photos before and after. Hmmmm.... why is that?

The internet has lots of photos, but only the kind where the cut is made on the inside of the eyelid. Two different doctors recommended cutting along the outside to remove extra sagging skin.

I would really like to know anyone's experience here in Bangkok. Any doctor recommendations? Any hospital recommendations? Private practice? Prices seem to be all over the place. Any photos you might be willing to share with me would be appreciated. I'm a bit scared of what the scarring will look like, and I have yet to see some final results from others. You can private PM me if you like.

Thanks much in advance.

I am also looking for exact same information! From research done so far it does look like it is difficult to get a really good result from eye bag surgery! Agree it is really important to find right surgeon. My aim is to find best in Thailand for this procedure and dont mind if it will cost more - really dont my face messed up! Willing to travel to Bangkok if necessary but I live in Phuket so would also be interested to hear if anyone has any experience of or recommendations for surgeons in Phuket. Happy to share any info I get.

Strange, when I first started working with Yanhee, I was given a large amount of before/after pictures of various surgeries (with rights to be used as promotional tools). I find this very odd, as my clients have been given photographic examples directly from Yanhee (on several occasions).

Scarring from blepharoplasty (especially lower) is minimal. Incisions are extremely small, and well masked by the natural curve of the eyelid.

As far as recommendations, Yanhee or Bumrungrad for the best 'all around' service and competency of physicians.

Private clinics are hit and miss... I have seen phenominal work come out of some and real crap from others. Research, research, research.

Cheers,

JL

I have been thru both types of eyelid sugery and would recommend the type of surgery where the incision is on the outside of the eye. The other type of surgery is where they go into your lower lids and suck the fat out. This can leave you with what they call a "sallow" or caved in look yrs later. I think by taking out the fat(bags) in your lower lids, and then a little tuck...you will be more satisfied with the results.

The best type of Dr. to perform this procedure would be an opthamologist with a fellowship in Occular Plastic Surgery. This is an M.D who has gone for special training in eyelid surgery, and does lower, upper lids and tear ducts. All of the plastic surgeons do eyelids, but you will find that most of the good ones are known for 1 speciality like noses, breasts or face lifts. You can look at all the major hospitals as well as Rutnin Eye Hospital for a good surgeon, and have no less than 3 opinions before going thru with it. I had my surgery in Los Angeles so I cant be of much help here.....good luck and feel free to pm me if you have any questions.

Best lead I have so far is from my lasik surgeon who recommended Dr Pornchai Mahaisavariya who is reportedly an experienced oculoplastic surgeon specialising in cosmetic eye surgery and affiliated to Rutnin Eye Hospital / Ramathibodi University Hospital. Anyone got any feedback on this referral or any other names worth checking?

I have also had a 'screen' at Bumrungrad late last year for blephoplasty, at the interview the doctor I spoke to for the consulatation left me cold and uneasy enough for me to re-consider/abort the procedure. I will follow this thread with intense interest, as I would also really like to know who is the person to see.

I can give my highest endorsement to Dr Amorn Poomee at Bumrungrad.

Did he perform blephoplasty procedure on you? Does he specialise in blephoplasty?

Was it the details of the procedure that left you cold or the surgeon himself? I had same experience with a surgeon in Phuket - in my case it was the surgeon himself who put me off - just seemed cold and didnt have any confidence that he really cared! Not very scientific I know - but think its essential to have confidence in the man not only his paper credentials? Understand if you dont want to say who it was but it would be useful.

I couldn't have said it any better. That is the big reason why it is taking me so long to make my own decision. I actually consulted a well known surgeon in the U.S., he made me feel great about it, but it was the looks of his secretaries that scared me this time. I hope it wasn't him that did the work ! :o

My husband had the upper eyelid surgery about 4 years ago. Dr. Poomee did the surgery and the results were very good. I am thinking about having it done in another year and I will have Dr. Poomee do mine at that time.

Good Luck with whoever you choose

I am planning to do eyelid surgery very soon and I wanted to know if anyone has a good recommendation to this work.

It appears that Dr. Somboon Chaisrisawadisuk, Associate Dean of Chiang Mai University Faculty of Medicine and Dr. Prayote, FACS, who received his plastic surgery training (and fellowship) in the US and is at Chiang Mai Ram Hospital, are among the best qualified.

Don't go by "testamonials", check their educational background and all credentials.

Dr Amorn Poomee @ Bumrungrad Hospital is Fabulous! I had an upper & lower blepharoplasty done in July this year with Dr Poomee & could not be happier.

I was terrified at the time - it's your face- after all- but I'm thrilled with the results.

I'm thinking of going back to him next year for some "body work" too :-)

Hi - I live in Los Angeles, and would like to get your recommendation for your doctor who did your eyes. Will you please recommend him or her? Is s/he an occular plastic surgeon? I got the surgery where the incision was inside, and yes, I now have that caved in look 6 years later. :) The doctor also took off too much skin from the bottom lids, so I often sleep with my eyes open which causes dry eyes. Not fun. Also, now one of my upper lids has a fat pocket at the end of the old crease, so I have a crease from the surgery that ends before the end of my eye, and right under it the old crease with a small fat bag on top. How lovely! It'd be nice to get that refreshed look. I've saved up some money. Would love to hear how much your doctor in LA charged, so I would have a good idea. THank you so much.

Pray tell why didnt you search this forum? Why not even bother to look at the next couple of pages in this forum? tons of posts about eye surgery blep etc

This has been asked a GAZILLION times and I have shed advise on the topic countless times.

and its also evident you need to do more research! a bleph is commonly done to excise extra skin, remove fatty tissue, trim muscles etc and the only way that is done is EXTERNAL INCISION and that being for the upper eyelid. Lower eyelid can be internal but thats a different procedure with different requirements.
