timba
Just arrived in Bangkok and in an attempt to find ways to socialise here, I have browsed on Internet the main associations/clubs of women in bkk. It looks like to join you must have a specific nationality, alternatively those groups seems to gather only non-working expat women who meet during the day for some activities. I am working here so could not join them and i bet that they spend the evening with their families. Do anyone knows if there is a group of professional women in bkk who meet sometimes in the evening for a drink or so? I am not 'expat female' resticted at all, would love to meet Thai nationals speaking English too (my Thai language is only at its very first beginning). Any place where to go just to socialise after work? Any advice would be much appreciated  Thanks!
samran
Hi Timba, There was a discussion called "single girl in bangkok" on the Farang Pub board on the 24th of March. This link below should get you to it. There are a quite a few non-dodgy places where you can meet others here and this link could get you started. http://forum.thaivisa.com/cgi-bin/ikonboar...ct=ST;f=4;t=549 Not really sure if there is a "working" expat womans group on Bangers though. Nevertheless, there are heaps of other associations which fill this gap, where women make up 50% of the membership eg sports teams (touch rugby, netball, ultimate frisbee), book clubs etc etc. All it means is getting out there and plugging away! People who get into these activities all tend to be either working (both single and married), or professionals who are living here cause of their partners jobs, and I don't simply mean wives. I have noticed plenty of husbands who have come here to follow their wives careers too! Hope this helps.
