I applied for an absentee ballot way way back and have not received it in the mail yet. Have any other Americans received theirs yet?

Received, filled in, and sent back last week. Let's just hope it does some good...

I haven't received mine either. but i did get an email the other saying that there are ways to vote even if we don't receive it. the is some kind of generic ballot we can use. fedex can mail it free and the ACS will also send it for free. we can do up until very late as well, i think the first or second of november. i think i will wait another week and if i don't receive mine in the mail, i will go this route.

ok, here is part of that email i mentioned so you can see for yourself:

If you requested an absentee ballot, but do not receive one in time to

vote, you may vote by using an Federal Write-in Absentee Ballot (FWAB),

which is available from the consular sections in Bangkok and Chiang

Mai.

When sending in your completed absentee ballot, you may use the Thai

postal system, drop it at the consular section, or use FedEx, which is

generously offering to return all ballots to the US for free. If you use

the Thai postal system, you must buy a Thai stamp. If you drop your

ballot at the consular section, and your ballot is marked postage-paid,

it goes to the US for free. If a stamp is required, you will have to

buy a US stamp. The consular section in Bangkok has a supply on hand for

this purpose.

The FedEx offer began on September 20, and runs through to Nov 1. To

use the FedEx offer, you must ship your ballot using a FedEx envelope

and you must complete a FedEx Int'l AWB. You can drop your ballot off at

any designated FedEx facility. In Bangkok, these facilities are

located at:

a) the basement of the Jewelry Trade Center on Silom Road-Tel:

662-6303372.

at 8/fl Green Tower Bldg on Rama 4 Road-Tel: 662-2298800 or 1782.

c) at 3800.Warehouse on Rama 4 Road-662-2402929

In Chiengmai area, all US citizens can drop their ballots off at the

Chiengmai station, which is located on Chiengmai-Lumphun super highway

opposite Makro super center-Tel:053-305212.

Please note, that courier pickup is not available for the FedEx

service, and drop off at FedEx drop boxes is not permitted.

If you have questions concerning your absentee ballot, or local

election rules, please look at either the FVAP web site at Federal Voting

and the Voting Information Center (VIC) at 001-800-12-0663305. Please

note that this is a toll-free number from Thailand, and that the VIC

can actually put you in touch with your local election officials.

I got that email too, hence the interest. unfortunately for me I don't live in Bangkok or Chiang Mai. Darth, if you do go pick up a write in ballot would you mind picking one up for me and dropping it in the mail to me? PM me if you do and I can give you my address. It would be tremendous favor! I have voted in every Pres. election since I was old enough to vote and don't want to miss this one!

i got back yesterday, my pile of mail includes an absentee ballot for my friend who spends most of his time in puwiang with his wife. monday i shall global priority same to their address. i hope the postal system will allow him to help us yanks avoid further embarrassment.
