Thief Arrested at Central Pattaya Apartment

Acting on information from a member of the public, police assisted by soldiers, went to an apartment complex on Second Road just after 3:00am on Wednesday where they were met by their informant and directed to a room occupied by a 20-year-old Thai man.

The man allowed the police and soldiers to search his room and they soon uncovered a mobile phone and digital camera which they were later to establish had been stolen from an Italian tourist, Mr Nicola Marcheppy, who has since left the country.

Also allegedly found in the room search was a small quantity of illegal substances. The man was arrested and taken to the Pattaya Soi 9 police station where a statement was taken. He will now face court proceedings in the coming days.

Police and soldiers? It would be interesting to hear what information "a member of the public" gave to get this sort of response.

For some time now, I want to say members of the Thai navy have been paired up to patrol

with some local officers. They wear the light tan outfit with those funky, white, beetle shaped

helmets? You know they started that operation rattlesnake, to crack down on the drug trade

and they have really been rousting the young thugs where they stay all over town. Which is

good I suppose because they are rarely up to any good. Just stealing from everyone else.
