Hi, my girl friend (soon to be my wife, we are getting hitched :o) is returning to Thailand in a couple of weeks, am wondering if it is possible to get a spouse visa police check in Khon Kaen as that is where her Tabien Baan is.

Only mention I can find on the site is Police Special Branch Rama 1 in Bangkok.

Does the Tabien baan need to be original or can a faxed copy be taken?

I could get her mum to fax a copy and the gf can take that?

If she has to do it Bangkok and it has to be original, she could do it on the way home as she flies in there but would need to have the Tabien Baan posted to bangkok, alas I don't think Thailand has a reliable Poste Restante system, well not for locals anyway, that was my impression while there last year.

Is there some reliable way of her being able to collect a held document in Bangkok, I guess a courier company or something?

Its just such a long way to go for one piece of paper...

Thanks.

Your post is very strange.

What nationality is your girlfriend?

For what country does she need a visa and require a police check for this visa application?

If she is not yet married to you, how can she expect to get a spouse visa?

Usually people who have Tabien Baan's and live in Khon Kaen are from Thailand, and this is the case with my gf.

We are getting married before she goes back.

Forgot to mention we are applying for Australia.

Hi Mate,

It has to be done in Bangkok....

It is free and takes only a short time to lodge the application.

They do not hold documents such as the Tabien Baan, they are copied there and then and returned to the applicant.

They will post the clearance to a domestic address or the Embassy but you will have to pay the postage. Alternatively she can collect it from the Clearance Office after about 2 weeks.

The clearance is good for 12 months
