Try Sushi Tsukiji in Soi Thaniya, Silom – it’s one of my favourite Japanese restaurants. Everything is very fresh and they make great otoro sashimi (which is even better when washed down with some sake ).

Takatei on Khao san Rd. It shits all over Fuji and Oishi. Very reasonable. Good friendly staff. Many Japanese eat there. Try it!

If you want something a little higher up the chain, try Maru or Nobu on Soi Thonglor, or Sake no Mise or Tsukiji on Soi Thaniya.

So true. Never been to the ones recommended by Pvt Dick. But avoid these chains(Fuji, Oshi) The food is very average. But do try Takatei. You will be surprised with the quality and prices. Awsome!

Edogin at the Shangri-La Hotel, Fantastic teppan yaki and sukiyaki are highly recomended.

Ikkyu, right across from Emporium is fantastic. Entrance is right near the Skytrain stairs. Wonderful place.

That may be a reason I haven't found a Japanese dish fit for my fussy palate.
