Chamlong unperturbed by growing public dissatisfaction...

Chamlong Srimuang ..... said the PAD is unperturbed by reports that the public dissatisfaction with the protesters is mounting.

"We are not perturbed because we gather here for the sake of the public interest," Chamlong said.

"We are not the government's side which does everything for vested interest."

Chamlong made the comment after some opinion surveys found that most people wanted the PAD to disperse.

The Nation

Students have had difficulty going to school because of the rally "for the sake of the public interest"; monks have had difficulty traversing their path because of the rally "for the sake of the public interest"; endless traffic jams have ensued because of the rally "for the sake of the public interest". Does the PAD represent the "public interest" or some ill-defined, though definitely vested, (and perhaps) meglo-maniacal group of self-serving "Establishment"?

Chamlong is perfectly correct. You should check his record on the sacrifices he has made for Thailand at one time or another for public interest, including during Black May 92 going on hunger strike, putting his life on the line while the army were letting off guns and beating protesters to pulp and getting arrested for his convictions that the military junta of the time were wrong.

It's the same Chamlong now putting his safety and life at risk by protesting against the present government. Not for personal gain, but the public interest. He should be an inspiration for all Thais about personal sacrifice. :o

It's interesting that the so-called (quotation by soldier Chamlong) "public interest" above does not include (1) students' difficulty in going to school; (2) monks' diffculty in traversing their (daily) paths; (3) endless traffic jams, etc., caused by these "public interest" events of the SAD (S = Son...) oops, I mean PAD.

Nothing is free, Chevy.

1. Like the students want to go to school?

2. Buddhism tells us that nothing in this world is permanent.

3. Another excuse for the already endless traffic jams.

Yeah, right. Nothing is free, Khun Khw.... (OOPS AGAIN). Well, to respond to your comments in the 1, 2, 3 order they appear above:

1. Most students in Thailand DO want to go to school.

2. If nothing is in fact permanent, then perhaps you won't be around to respond to this (just Khw... I mean, kidding....).
