Singtel: Where To Purchase Top Up In Thailand

Does anyone know where to purchase a Singtel HiCard top up in Thailand? Are the any Thai mobile topo up card that will work to top up a Singtel sim?

There are a number of options on the Singtel website but I don't believe any of them allow topping up a card from outside of Singapore unless you have a Singapore Singtel account and can add the top up cost to your next Singapore phone bill, at least that was the case when I tried to do it last year. Try topping up a Thai SIM in Singapore and you probably would run in to problems as well unless someone sells cards at Golden Mile :o

If you purchase a top up card are you able to make the top up from Thailand? I asked SingTel about this last year and was told it wasn't possible outside of Singapore. Every option required having someone in Singapore to complete the top up.

If you are able to add credit and extend the expiry date while in Thailand then I would be interested in knowing exactly how you did it as I have a Singapore SIM with plenty of credit that expires soon.

I purchased a Singtel top up from Phonecard.com.sg. They emailed me the pin codes (10 digit and 6 digit) needed to top up. I have not actually used the top up yet as I am waiting until closer to my expiry date to do it. You can top up while overseas. Buried in Singtel.com is the Roaming Guide. http://home.singtel.com/consumer/travelling_overseas.asp (download on right side) There are dialing instructions on page 13 to top up from overseas if you have a top up card. Also, Singtel told me that there is a 30 day grace period to keep you sim active after the expiry.

Sounds good, if you can start international roaming from Thailand or did you enable that before when in Singapore? Can you post again in this thread or send me a private message if you are able to top up successfully, I'd be interested in knowing how you get on.

Funny about the expiry date. I asked SingTel about that and was told when my credit ended then so did the number which seemed odd as every other phone company gives a grace period. Seems like the person I spoke to didn't know much.

For anyone going to Singapore and needing a SIM, you can buy them at Seven Eleven but they always suggest Hello cards which are only about $15 but the overseas call rates are high. Last time I got one on arrival at the airport from the money changer next to where you collect your baggage. It was about $30 for a different SingTel SIM and to call overseas you used a special prefix like the 007 CAT numbers in Thailand so the rates were much cheaper, maybe only 20% of the Hello card rate. Worth knowing if you need to make overseas calls.

I just topped up successfully from the USA with the top up code I purchased from phonecard.com.sg using paypal.
