Chaos following Police chase in South Pattaya.

A bizarre incident now from the South Pattaya Road which involved a car driven by a Thai Woman who refused to stop when ordered to do so by Police. The story begins at the Traffic Lights in front of Pattaya School Number 8 just after Midday on Thursday. A Silver Toyota Vios driven by Khun Orasar from Bangkok, who was accompanied by her 6 year old daughter, attempted to drive the wrong way down a one-way road leading to Pattaya Beach. A Traffic Police Officer stationed nearby spotted the car and ordered the driver to pull over. She refused to do so, and attempted to drive away. A Pattaya City Hall Truck also attempted to block her escape and was hit by the Toyota Vios which drove away in the direction of the Sukumvit Road. Eventually other Police vehicles, that were notified of the incident managed to box the car in. However a 1 hour standoff took place and Khun Orasar locked herself and her daughter inside the car and refused to come out. She was seen taking off her jewelry and placing it down her trousers. Police were unsure why she refused to stop and to ensure that no illegal items were inside the car, it was decided to force entry into the vehicle by breaking the front windscreen. Before the glass could be removed, Khun Orasar opened the door but wondered why the Police were making such a problem for her as she claimed she had done nothing wrong. Eventually the woman was persuaded to accompany Police to the Station and as we recorded this item, the case is continuing to be dealt with at Pattaya Police Station.

While waiting at one of the U turns to turn South on the Sukhumvit the other evening a lady on a motorbike attempted to turn Northbound, there are clear signs for Southbound traffic that they must not use this turning. I would have thought that the presence of two Thai policemen on their motorbikes in front of me also waiting to join the South bound traffic might have made the woman in question hesitate before making the illegal turn, but no.

The policeman nearest her, waved to stop her and said something like, "What do you think you are doing.....", she did slow down but otherwise ignored him continuing her illeagal maneuver. The policemen looked at each other - then continued on their way.

DERANGED WOMAN GOES ON ROAD RAMPAGE IN PATTAYA

A Thai woman apparently became unaccountably deranged and with her daughter beside her went on a Mad Max-like Road Warrior rampage across Pattaya City on June 19, 2008, totally disregarding red traffic lights, with police in hot pursuit. She was only brought to an abrupt halt by police forcing her to crash into a police car blocking the road.

Yesterday, 19 June, Sergeant Ukaradetcn Petchglah of Pattaya Police was on duty at the Wat Chaimongkol traffic lights, South Pattaya, when he noticed a bronze, Toyota Vio, with Bangkok plates, driving in a highly reckless manner down Pratumnak Road. At the intersection, the motorist sped through a red light and turned left into Pattaya Beach Road. When police gave chase on motorbike, the driver turned round and sped back to Second Road, went straight through the Central Pattaya intersection and careered into North Pattaya Road. Police then radioed headquarters to co-ordinate means of putting an end to her insane rampage.

Meanwhile, the mystery car drove briefly into Sukhumvit Road, before turning right back towards South Pattaya once again. Throughout her reckless rampage, the driver drove non-stop through all the traffic lights, irrespective of their colour, with total disregard for other road users or pedestrians. Finally, having reached the end of their tether, police determined to put a stop to the woman's lunatic antics by blocking Soi Kowtalow with a police car. Normal, sane individuals might have slowed down and stopped at this juncture, but the deranged woman ran full tilt into the road block.

She obviously caused considerable damage to both cars, but to make absolutely certain and finally scotch the road warrior, they let down all her tyres. Miraculously unhurt, the woman sat passively in the driving seat with her young daughter of about 5-6, sitting beside her. Police tried to persuade the woman to get out of the car, but she adamantly refused to open the door, forcing officers to break the car's window. When police finally opened the door, the woman grabbed her daughter, put the child onto her lap and held on to her frantically.

After spending quite some time interrogating the woman, police finally ascertained that her name was Mrs. Orasa Kositjareonkul. They had apparently come to Pattaya on holiday and were staying at the Royal Cliff Hotel. However, like a prisoner of war, she refused to divulge any further details, or the reason for her insane drive-about.

Police presumed that the woman had some kind of mental problem, so they took her and the girl to the police station and contacted their relatives to see if they can shed further light upon the situation.

The Vios changed colour and bumped off a number vehiles by the look of things.

Why would Pattaya Daily News report a 6 year old girls name and school location.

Idiots.

The incident started in front of a school, the folk were from Bangkok.

My question still stands....Why report an innocent 6 year old girls name and school location.

To subject her to abuse from classmates? To shame her publicly?

Saying the woman and child are from Bangkok would have sufficed.

I'm sorry "Chang_paarp" I don't see the logic in your response.

Publicly humiliating a 6 year old girl is inexcusable "journalism".

My statement stands.....Idiots.
