AirAsia to Serve Hot Meals Onboard

AirAsia is to offer a wider choice of hot meals onboard its flights. The regional menu offers a wide range of popular Malaysian and Asian delicacies. Served hot and fresh, the menu provide choices such as Pak Nasser’s nasi lemak, 1901 hotdogs, Sri Melur Jaya’s nasi briyani with chicken curry, roti canai and roti jala.

For dessert, passengers will be able to choose from a selection of sweet and juicy local fruits. Passengers can expect more meal options with the introduction of a new menu in July. The new dishes soon to be available are chicken rice, and Indonesian fried rice with satay.

AirAsia's new Chairman, Dato' Aziz Bakar said, “Guests could make themselves feel at home by having familiar, local delicacies during flights. It is also the best way to introduce our local food to guests from all over the world. It will be the reason for them to come back for more. It is also a gesture of appreciation to our guests, as they are the reason for us being here today. Our guests deserve the best and this is just the beginning of more good things to come.”

Among the delicacies available on AirAsia's Thai flights are roasted chicken in French bread, crabstick and ebiko sandwich, chicken fried rice, rice with chicken krapro with healthy drinks; Lemon, Lemongrass and Ginger juices. Passengers onboard AirAsia's Indonesia flights can have a choice of nasi kuning, chicken, beef and tuna sandwiches.

Passengers can pre-book their meals online at airasia.com when purchasing their flights to enjoy savings of up to 10%.

The nasi lemak is actually pretty good. If you are pretty sure you will be wanting a meal on your AirAsia flight, it's better to pre-book that meal when purchasing your ticket. Otherwise, you really take your chances as to whether they'll have anything left when they get around to serving your seat. I've been caught out more than once on the Chiang Mai-Kuala Lumpur flight (before they offered meals pre-booking). Flew that run on Fiday, had pre-booked a hot meal, and was the only passenger in my general vicinity that received hot food (they were otherwise sold out).

so it pays to order on line

I think it does unless you want to take your chances. I generally don't want a meal on a short AirAsia flight, but the flight timing of the CNX-KUL flight is such that if you don't have something on the plane, you'll otherwise miss lunch. They also discount a little if you order a meal on-line, but the savings are hardly earth shattering.
