Hi

I rent and as the old fridge used to get inhabited by lots of those little "maleng wee" I got a new one.

Within days my new Toshiba had about 200 of the sods. They're about 90% dead or twitching.

The door looks to have a good seal. At Siam TV they just scratched their heads. It is unlikely but just conceivable that an odd fly could come in on the small amount of tomatoes or jackfruit I have had......but not lots.

On asking neighbours (we all live in a forest garden) it turns out to be a common problem. One neighbour has two newish fridges both different brands and still gets them in both.

They might come up the drain hole. I have also thought about putting garlic in or something.

I would prefer a physical barrier if I could suss it out.

Any ideas?

thanx John

.

In all my years using fridges i have never had that problem , 3 things come to mind reading your post , 1 , you should thorougly wash everything that you purchase from any place or scource because of the possibility of bacteria , mights , catarpillars etc . 2 , You should never put anything in your fridge that is not wrapped or(in a dish) covered by sirran wrap , some people use foil but it is not as effective .To do anything else leaves you wide open to cross contamination , i.e. solmonella from chicken to pork etc . 3 .Any sea food should be put in the freezer for 24 hours because that kills off latent bacteria , many Japanese get food poisoning due to thier fetish for wraw sea food .

Hope this helps , i would not have it any other way , especially in SE Asia because of the tendacy for shoppers to pick up every last item in a bin to make sure the items are all same-same , people cough and sneeze all over everything in sight , even you !!!
