Anyone know any Speedboat Dealerships in LOS, anywhere will do, Phuket, Samui, Pattaya, BKK ??

I can't seem to locate any.

Try Simpson Marine in either Phuket or Pattaya, Phone 076 239768: Lee Marine in Phuket and Pattaya, Phone: 076 239729 or Max-Marine Asia in Phuket, Phone 081 9700583.

They are all dealers of various speed boats, all imported. SEAT Marine sell there own design manufactured in Thailand and they suffer from the fact that most of their designs are for flat water or lakes as they have very little deadrise to hull bottom and give a very hard ride as a result. You are better off with an imported boat which has been designed for offshore conditions.

PM me if you need any further information.

Cheers

And if you decide to buy one then clear it with your local Thai speedboat business operators first or you will wake up the first morning to find a burnt out shell on the end of your mooring line.

Who on earth told you this??????!

OP - depends on what you want the boat for...if just for flitting around the gulf, Seat produce some decent enough boats; there are a few other manufacturers around the place too; if you want to run a charter business then legally there are a ton of things you have to take care of and it would seriously annoy many people (including the farangs who run legal marine businesses) if you go into that area without complying with the law, running boats overfilled etc etc.

PM me and I can happily point you in the right area; what size, what horsepower, what purpose, what location, what is your budget...plenty of options for import or to buy locally - also a decent number availalbe second hand. The links above are a great start; I'd recommend Bill Gasson at Ocean Marina as a good starting point.

You might like to think about where you will keep it and how to trailer; that is a bit of an issue.

When you say speedboat, do you mean this boat????! 555555555555555555

I bought my new 25' Crownline from Lee Marine in Pattaya; Monterey Boats are sold by Function marine. Lots of others available or just bring your own over from the US; they are practically giving them away now that gas is 5 dollars a gallon.

hello steveromagnino,

Sorry may I ask for your views (yet offered to OP but hope you forgive me) on the same subject.

I want to buy a boat to go boating in Phulet water on long weekend visits (we would fly in from SG and spend all time on the boat).

What type, model of boat do we need? I guess it depends on what we want... - we want to use the boat for going around Phuket area, Phanga-Nga islands, Phi-Phi, Krabi etc during 3-4 days visits. Activities would be mainly cruising around, stopping on a beach for a day or bbq, snorkelling, maybe occasional fishing etc with overnights in quiet bays or marina - basically as slow and relaxing as it can be. It is only 2 of us (in our healthy 30-40s), with maybe occasional couple of friends joining occasionally.

What are fundamental differences between varios boat models/brands (regarding reliability, equipment, seawortness etc)? I am not pretending on Sunseeker, Princess or Pershing - we just need a reliable comfortable boat to take us around, brand is not important.

I am absolute newbie to boating but generally love water/sports and had a dream about a boat for ages. Thus I guess we need to buy form a reputated dealer a well-maintained second-hand boat for start, just not to run into many problems with upkeep and mainitanance from the beginning.

How old used boat should we aim to buy? What generally is considered as old/deteriorating about powerboats? What shoudl be look for when we will start lookin at potential boats to buy (well, I gues I need a buddy who would know the things)?

What engine (outboat brand, 1 or 2 outboards, 2 or 4 stroke, petrol or disel, or maybe stationary engine) and power are the best for Phuket waters?

What is best way to keep it (in dry stand or on the water) if we will come to Phuket every second month (say 5-6 times per year) for a long weekend or short week?

Which marinas provide a good reputable service and also located practical/close to the airport and areas where best to go by boat?

What are best time of the year to buy a boat?

Are the prices vary, what is the latest trend (well I guess it depends on oil prices last months!)?

How much would be approximate costs of storage, insurance and maintanance (say for a 30ft branded cruiser 5 years old)? What is average petrol consumption (and what it depends on?) for the types of boat which we are looking for?

Well, I have another 100 questions but I guess I already own you 5 pints in case you will be so kind to enlight me on above initial points - I hope those are really fundamental things which we need to know first (if I missed anything important - please shoot those bullets).

Thanks a million

Mike
