Is it me? I'm finding the water you can buy from the reverse osmosis machines tastes... well... err.. yuk. It certainly doesn't taste like sparkling spring water. My tongue seems to 'dry up' as if I'm reacting to something in the water.

The machine I use states the water is mineralized, which is an advance on machines I have used before, since I read in the Bangkok Post that RO machines leech minerals from the bones.

Here's the possibilities which you are welcome to add to.

1. I'm reacting to something they added.

2. My taste buds are less dulled by sugar, fat, smoking, etc... than others, so I'll get no joy from this board.

3. It's fed by municipal water and while the process removes most of the nasties, it still retains the yucky taste.

4. The machine isn't working and I'm about to go down with the plague.

5. I already have the plague. Its not the water. It's my diseased tongue.

Anyone else find this water tastes 'funny'?

Why can't we get uncontaminated, fluoride free water!

Unless the reverse osmsosis is thru a ceramic barrier, you will pick up impurities that have been used/added to the membeane. If they have used chlorox bleach for the membrane disinfectio,n you will pick up polonium, grease, etc. Check out the Cure and Prevention of All Cancers 2997 H R Clark PhD ND at drclark.com for the full list of the engredients of chlorox bleach. You would taste it.

That water from those machines is gross...

I give it to my dog and my girlfriend cooks rice with it. Just get sprinkle delivery or buy bottled water from the store. That "street water" will definitely take a few years off of your life.

As Ben Franklin said: In wine there is wisdom, in beer there is freedom, in water there is bacteria.

In a number of carefully controlled trials, scientists have demonstrated that if we drink 1 liter of water each day, at the end of

the year we would have absorbed more than 1 kilo of Escherichia coli, (E. coli) - bacteria found in feces. In other words, we are consuming 1 kilo of poop. (that's over 2 pounds).

However, we do NOT run that risk when drinking wine & beer (or tequila, rum, whiskey or other liquor) because alcohol has to go through a purification process of boiling, filtering and/or fermenting.

Remember: Water = Poop, Wine = Health

Therefore, it's better to drink wine and talk stupid, than to drink water and be full of shit.

I've got to say, that is total nonsense. There is no way that drinking water which doesn't have minerals in it (or drinking water of any other kind either, actually) will leach minerals from your bones. The human body simply doesn't work that way.

Re your original question, I would guess it is because the source water isn't that great and the filter in the machine in question is either old or not filtering out as much of the chemicals and other stuff as it would like to think it is. Have you tried different brands of the machines?

On second thoughts, it could be the "mineralised" factor which makes it taste foul... go back to non-mineralised, I assure you your bones will be just fine!
