July 2, 200818 yr Well sort of anyway, another well conceived Top Gear test http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=wq9ilgw1plc Gotta love that show, the previous spot on supercar MPG (where the Ferrari managed 1.7 MPG) was also most enjoyable "I don't want to know why you can't. I want to know how you can!"

July 2, 200818 yr A friend has a prius and complains about how expensive it is to run. A good con by Toyota.
July 2, 200818 yr Because I want to be seen as a yuppie hi-so poser. I will take it to J Avenue & drive around in circles.
July 2, 200818 yr Author We're sorry, this video is no longer available It's still working for me, this post/thread may be of relevence http://www.thaivisa.com/forum/index.php?s=...t&p=2064755 "I don't want to know why you can't. I want to know how you can!"
July 2, 200818 yr well a bmw m3 driven slow vs a prius driven slow, the prius would win, like they say, its all down to driving style - how heavy footed you are. hybrids are pointless, electric is the way to go. http://www.teslamotors.com/

Yup, as JC so rightly said, it's not necessarily WHAT you drive but HOW you drive it. The Stig must have really hammered the Prius to get it down to 17 miles per (UK) gallon Edited July 2, 200818 yr by Crossy "I don't want to know why you can't. I want to know how you can!"
July 4, 200818 yr We're sorry, this video is no longer available Thats TOT blocking of youtube in place
July 4, 200818 yr Well thats because the Prius is constantly on wide open throttle while the M3 is barely even on the throttle.
July 4, 200818 yr At full throttle hybrid's petrol motor is busy full time, it's not in a fuel saving mode. Hybrids ARE a way to go - no other technology saves energy otherwise wasted on braking., but don't forget that it saves fuel comparing to the original petrol engine the hybrid system is mated to, which might not be great to begin with. Wait until they stick hybrids on modern diesels to see real economy.
