Windows Live Mail - Emails With Photos Attached Often Not Delivered.

I've just got 3 more of my Hotmail accounts working. They all had the "negative vibes" error.

I can confirm that it is essential to use a normal browser to log in to the account and get rid of the "Your inbox has a slightly new look" page by checking the box at the bottom that says "Don't show me this again".

Then all 3 accounts started working OK, with no need to change the port numbers.

I don't know what the new version of the "Webmail for Hotmail" extension does. Maybe the old version will work if you simply get rid of the extra page that Hotmail have inserted, but maybe not. I'm not going to go back to the previous version just to satisfy my curiosity! :o

JS, I'm having problems with the file HotMail1.2.19b49. I've downloaded the file but can't open it. I get the message:

File Type: Unknown

Description: Windows does not recognize this file type.

Any ideas?

Thanks

Mobi

It's a zip file (hotmail-1-2-19b49.zip). You need to unzip it (to hotmail-1-2-19b49.xpi) before installing it in Tbird using "Tools / Add-ons / Extensions / Install".

Sorry JS , but I'm still having problems.

I did unzip the file to hotmail-1-2-19b49.xpi.

Then I selected Tools/Add-ons/ Extensions/ , but there is no "install" in the window. (Just "options", "disable" and "uninstall"

So how do I install the unzipped file in Thunderbird if there is no "install" option?

Sorry for being thick :o

Yes I am thick. I now found the "install " button and have installed the file, so disregard this post.

Thanks, JetSet, I am now back and running, after painstakingly following all your instructions.

What's with bloody Hotmail, anyway.... :o

:D Great news!

Yes, bl00dy Hotmail occasionally make changes to their "human interface" - like adding this new page that tells you how wonderful everything looks now - but they clearly don't think too much about all the software authors who write stuff to automate the access.

So whereas a human being would simply click on the "Continue" button and carry on as normal, any bit of software trying to read the emails wouldn't be programmed to do it. So the protocol breaks and we get the problems that both you, I and lots of other people have had.

Anyway, well done! :o
