Hi,

Ok, I'm planning on moving to Thailand in January09, im about to book my ticket and I have advised my employer that I am only working until December. Im 28 and got married to a Thai girl last year, I have no criminal record. Im about to apply for a O visa.

What I really want to know whats the chances of me being approved for this visa, my friend told me that it can be hard to get this visa.

So I want to know from fellow Thaivisa members who have been through the process or know the process what are my chances of getting this visa.

Also after a few months I want to change it to a working visa when I open a business, is that hard to do also?

Also for border runs, Do I just cross the border, get a stamp and go back home? Do I need to stay out of Thailand for 1 day min or whats the deal with border runs

I am not an Aussie but popular opinion is the Sydney is not the best choice in Australia. Think I remember Perth.

A border run require you to cross the border and come straight back again.

Ok,

What do you mean by the Perth part? That its easier for me to get the visa if I was in Perth?

What I really want to know it how easy is it to get the visa, is it tough to get or do they hand it out to anyone who matches there rules.

I just had a look and the Visa O is for 50 years and over.

Im 28 and want a visa, which one will suit me best as I want to live in Thailand. I probably wont be working for 6 months

You will definitely be able to get a single Non O and very possibly a Multi Entry. Others have reported that Sidney is not very helpful.

Take your marriage certficate, your wife's ID card (take her with you is best) to the consulate. Apply for a Non-O visa based on your marriage. Once in Thailand you will be able to apply for a WP using your non-O visa. You should have no problem egtting either a visa or WP.

To get a work permit requires qualifying employment - it is not issued because he has a non immigrant O visa or is married to a Thai. He is talking about opening a business and that is another subject which requires careful research.
