It's an interesting question, but one which I think will remain fairly irrelevant until we're in a position to produce 'devices,' 'beings,' whatever you want to call them, that are sophisticated to the point of becoming indistiguishable from humans. Surprised no one has mentioned Blade Runner yet.

Classic film. "Westworld" was another film on the same theme. And it featured robotic babes programmed for sex.

In today's bangkok post - Robots are being developed to respond to emmotions with a view to becomming companions to the lonely . They say sex with robots also is being developed with robots giving different signals and sounds depending on where they are touched !

I suppose quite a few positives , no arguments , no chatter unless you want it etc

Personally I think if you are lonely and need companionship , not many things could replace a dog .
