Hi. I'm currently in Phuket on a 30 day stamp (my 2nd one). I will be attending one of the Muay Thai schools here and have obtained a letter from them indicating that I will be training with them for a year and a copy of their company registration/tax papers, as required for the Education Visa. I have a couple of questions about this though.

  1. Where do I get the actual Visa application form?
  2. How much (if anything) does this Visa cost?
  3. Given that I'm in Phuket, which would be the best Consulate to go to to obtain this Visa? From checking flights it seems that the only cheap, direct flights I can get to cities with Consulates are Singapore and Penang.
  4. According to the Education Visa section on this site, "This visa will allow you to stay in Thailand for 1 year subject to one extension within the first 90 days."; what is involved with the extension?
  5. How do I get a multiple entry stamp on this as opposed to a single entry? Is it just an option in the application or is it more complicated than that?

If there's any other relevant information that I should be aware of, please feel free to share. Thanks in advance.

1. you can download it from the immigration police website or get it at the immigration office.

The cost of the visa depends on how you go about. It is possible to get the education visa on a visa-exempt entry stamp. But you have to apply within the first 8 days of your visa. If you have less than 22 days left on your entry stamp than you can make a border run and get a new stamp. With this method you will have to file an application to change your visa (2000 baht) and apply for a education visa (1900 baht).

Visa/visa change cost from Immigration is 2,000 baht.

Extension of stay cost is 1,900 baht.

I went to Penang and got what appears to be a 90 day single entry ED visa. At least the stamp on it is 90 days from the time I returned to Thailand. What is the process for extending this to 1 year? I'm assuming I need to visit an Immigration office. Do I need any sort of documentation from my school? Any other sort of documentation? Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Yes, you have to go to the immigration office to apply for an extension of stay.

Yes, you need some documents from the school, which should no what to give you.

The requirements for the extension of stay are listed in paragraph 7.8 of the Royal Thai Police Order No. 606/2549.
