On "Larry King Live" this morning they had most of a show devoted to prostate cancer. Quite interesting. Their interviewed a number of well-known celebrities who had it and are doing great. Colin Powell had his prostate removed with no lasting side-affects. Famous baseball coach (whose name escapes me at the moment) had, I believe, minor surgery plus either radiation or chemo and is fully functioning and clear of cancer. Another of the guests had more aggressive surgery well over a decade ago and is fully functioning. One thing they all emphasized is that every case is different and treatments are advancing rapidly; what was true a decade ago is not true to today...and that's good. Yes, most men die with prostate cancer as opposed to of prostate cancer, but they listed a handful of names (Merv Girffen, for example) who died of it.

I don't know what i would do if i had prostate cancer BUT recent research has shown that doing nothing may be better in many cases.

Despite what some posters say here before you rush into anything do plenty of research as all the invasive options have bad side effects and in some cases the cure maybe worse than the disease.

some interesting comments from many far more knowledgeable than I on this topic.

My only experience worth sharing is my brother in law's situation. He was diagnosed with prostrate cancer when he was in his early 50's. He had surgery then and is now well into his 70's. Obviously we have learned a lot since that time. I only know that after the surgery his lifestyle did not change at all, and he is still strong and healthy as any one could wish to be.

I hope the same for you whatever you decide.

Just seen this thread for the first time today a good Forum to talk to people about prostate cancer is http://www.healingwell.com/community/default.aspx?f=35 I have been dealing with prostate cancer since January and this site helped me make my decisions they offer advice but expect you to make your own decisions and then offer good support I decided to have my prostate remove which was done at the end of August and I have no incontinence problems and I think that the ED side of things will be OK

Just to clear a few things up maybe a bit late but may help somebody later I was told that the only hospital in Bangkok that does robotic prostate surgery is Siriraj Hospital in but they have only had it for two years so I was a bit worried about the experience side so I went for open surgery done by Dr. Viroj Chodchoy at Bunrungrad with whom I felt very comfortable with and I seemed to have been looked after very well
