17th & 18th July

Featured Replies

Hi,

Some advise from some of you employers out there would be appreciated.

I am getting conflicting information about whether the 18th July is an actual public holiday or not.

Some of my staff have assumed it was going to be a nice 4 day weekend and have booked trips accordingly.

On Thaivisa it says the day is a holiday but my diary states that only the 17th is a holiday.

Also apparently the banks will be open, which is where I usually take my guidance from.

Before I disappoint the staff, I want to be 100% sure that I can tell them they have to work, without worrying about them going off to the labour department to file a complaint! :o

Many thanks

HoJo

17 July = Asarnha Bucha Day

18 July = Buddhist Lent Day

Could just be a generous employer and let them go. :o

If past history is anything to go on, expect on Monday when the powers that be realise the opportunity for a long weekend, they will come up with an excuse to allow all GVT employees to take the day off...says my cloudy crystal ball. :D

In Yaowarat they don't close their shops but have block party style dinners after closing with tables set out in front of each shop and the shop owner treats the workers to food.

Give them the day Howard. And let them know "it's a gift".

What you give is what you get...

I gotta work. Was planning on taking friday off for a long weekend but my "buddy" next to me beat me to it :o
