'try Again'

All of the above, but also you could use the verb representing the action which should be tried again.

e.g. สอบใหม่อีกครั้ง sohb mai eek khrang = try (taking the test) again

isn't ลอง more for trying in the sense of an experiment or sampling a new food? But พยายาม is for putting forth an effort typically a physical exertion. It seems based on the OP's question -พยายามอีกครั้ง would do it

ลอง has a much more wider range of use than just that though. My understanding of it is that พยายาม is usually 'try' in the sense of using physical or mental exertion when you're not sure if you'll physically able to succeed in the task, whereas ลอง is 'try' in the 'give it a go and see what happens' sense. For instance: if you called a wrong number or typed a wrong url, you would try ลอง again with a different one; you broke up with your girlfriend so you're going to ลองดู with someone else ; the shop you wanted to go to was closed yesterday so today you're going to ลอง go again. พยายามใหม่ would generally imply that having previously physically tried and failed to do something you're going to summon up your (mental/physical) strength and give it another go, say a boxer that lost the last match or a learner practicing their skills over and over. There's undoubtedly a degree of overlap between them though, and so I don't really think it's possible to come up with any hard-and-fast rules as it's fairly easy to find counter-examples.

You also commonly see ลอง + the relevant verb in question, so ลองพยายามใหม่ is entirely possible depending on the context.

- ลองคบกันอีกครั้ง (long khob gan eek khrang) = try seeing each other again

- ลองคบกันใหม่อีกครั้ง (long khop gan mai eek khrang) = try seeing each other again ("mai" = new)

- ลองคบกันดูอีกที (long khob gan doo eek tee) = try and see if we can see each other again ("doo" = see)

- มารักกันใหม่ (ma rak gan mai) = love each other again (actually also the name of a song)

How do you say 'try again' in Thai?

For example you were not succesful at doing something so you want to try again....

Could you write in karoke as I can barely read thai, thanks.

Colloquially, Thai says 'ao mai' to mean 'repeat / try again'.
