Ars Not Working

Recommended Posts

I have been using ARS ant killer for a few years now. It works really great for me. It almost fun watching the ants struggling to carry the grains back to their nest. After about 24 hours the ant problem goes away for a few months (or more).

However there now seems to be a new formulation. The grains are not yellow but brown. My ants have zero interest in these grains.

The new packets are red (see photo) with Thai writing suggesting that they are prepared in Thailand whereas the old packets were orange with Japanese/Chinese writing suggesting that they were imported.

Luckily I had one old packet left and my ants immediately took to the yellow grains and started carrying the grains back to their nest. You can see from the photos how they surround the yellow grains but ignore the brown grains.

I have talked to the manager at Foodland where I bought the packets and he is taking my 'complaint' seriously. He said he will contact the manufactures.

Maybe the new brown grains will work for some ants, but mine like yellow!

Cheers for the heads-up, I'll make sure we stock up on the old yellow type whilst the shop still have it in stock.

At first glance, the topic heading suggests you should really be in the medical forum seeking laxative :o

With any of these "back to the nest" baits, it's helpful to mix in some sugar. The version I get ("SHANJIAPAI" ?) comes in a sachet, so it's easy to add some white sugar and the crush/mix the grains together. Also seems to help if you make part of this mix slightly wet - literally a drop or two of water - as it seems to attract the ants more quickly.
