I have recently been shopping around to find a suitable certificate for a site I'm running in Denmark. And when shopping around you cannot ignore Verisign. To my surprise I found that it is MUCH more expensive to make a 128 bit encrypted string outside of the US than inside.?!? :o

For server outside the US/Canada they charge you 1099 USD where servers inside the US/Canada is 699 USD. This makes absolutely no sense to me why the same stupid string should be 400 USD more expensive to create for a server somewhere else in the world.

In general I am disgusted with the SSL Certificate business. They are charging insane prices for handing out a little file. Don't tell me it is that much work to check if an IP is really associated to a business or corporation. With modern technology most of this can be done almost automaticly.

And we complain about how 'farangs' pay different prices from Thais in many areas. This is a total rip-off IMHO.

Verisign is a total rip-off. No reason to go with them as I'm sure you noticed on your first google search.

This is like making a complaint about the price of cars today, then only discussing Mercedes.

I'd like a Mercedes though :o

george: Do you know if the certificates from Dynadot support wildcards or subdomains? I wasn't able to find much information about their services on the website.

Why dont you go for a Thawte SSL. Thawte and Verisign == same company and obvisouly same product with a different name...

If you are interested by a Thawte SSL, purchase it from www.resellerclub.com a company based in India... I have purchased multiple Thawte SSL's over there without any problem.

Good luck.
