Here is a free application that can be used to diagnose your hard drive problem. This application allows you to analysis HDD temperature. It also able to conduct S.M.A.R.T test, generate and print report to document for info of the HDD Health. It works on ATA, SATA and SCSI drives. Surprisingly, it also works on removable drives such as USB and Firewire. After all, it is free, although it is not perfect and there are room for improvement. The new update is expected soon. July 29, 200817 yr I have two identical SATA hard drives mounted in my computer. They are not configured for automatic. I use the one to manually back up all my documents. After diagnostic checking, the hard drive with the operating system is showing some problems. What is the easiest way to transfer the entire system to the better hard drive? I'll then use the weaker hard drive for backup. I also have a USB hard drive and use it for a double backup.

But I have tested my hard drives with 4 diffrent programs, 3 of them paid programs. 3 programs gave me the green light, 1 programs reportet diffrent test result So, which test results can I rely on? If I don't trust my physicians diagnostic in the first place, you go and consult another one. If the others give me the same "diagnostic" than I will consider something. In my opinion you should test with diffrent programs and options as well before you run into the not so easy task to transfer your OS to another hd. A lot of these utilities are available for free in the www. If you are located in BKK you will know where to get the other programs... Cheers Edited July 29, 200817 yr by webfact
July 29, 200817 yr Since the system files are on the older drive and the backup drive hasn't been used very much, I trust the diagnostics. Both drives are identical and were checked together. The older drive showed some yellow lights and the backup drive showed all green lights.
