Can't Even Buy A Condo Outright Now

Featured Replies

I heard from a Thai recently that there was a change to the law (this year, I think) which means that it is now no longer possible for a farang to buy an apartment in a condominium outright. The best that can be achieved now is a lease for 50 years or something like that.

Is this true or rubbish?

Rubbish. BTW, leases are for 30 years and not 50.

You do know that it's total rubish,

so why do you post such a message ?

And who is "a Thai" ... :o

I think it is OK to post this obvious untrue rumor so that it gets promptly and properly SQUASHED.

More than likely he heard it from his Thai girlfriend who doesn't want him to buy a condo in his own name but rather buy a house in her name. :o
