I would like to get a favorite watch of mine replated in 18K, does anyone know of a reputable place, that will not charge me an arm and a leg??

Knew someone had it done in Phuket, lasted about 2 weeks.

Let me tell you about electroplating.

No. 1. Surface preparation, thats where it starts and ends.

No.2. Plating thickness.

So wherever its done they have to take the watch surround off, chemically clean it, plate it and put it back together.

Anyone that offers you a "one dip" and its done is a snake oil salesman.

How would I know ? When I was going through Uni, years ago but nothings changed, I earnt my holiday money working in my uncles electroforming business (similar to electroplating but a lot more demanding) and I learnt those basics.

Difference in cost in thickness is minimal, its the prep work thats important.

Think you will find it hard to get an 18K plate effect in LOS.

Not a lot of positives I know but you know what to avoid !!

Thats all good information, appreciated. I can understand that for sure. I was not looking to have the bezel done anyway, so the only disassembly would be the linked band, every odd link. I would like to restore to original micron thickness but TAG doesn't give out that info too easily...lol!!
