So far i have found flights from Brisbane/Goldcoast to Kuala Lumpur then a flight from KL to Phuket. But then i have to fly from Phuket to Kho Samui.

What do people do in terms of getting there there on the cheap???

I have head of catching overnight bus from Bangkok but airasia does not fly to Bangkok They are the cheapest airline options.

Any ideas guys?

cant say its the cheapest but its the easiest...............brisbane to bangkok with thai airways(direct flight).

bangkok to samui with bangkok airways.................only 2 flights(total flying time about 10 hours)..

The bus ride from Phuket to Samui will be 8-10 hours and sucks. It would be easier to fly directly to Bangkok then take a bus/boat to Koh Phangan. Are there other airlines you can try? The saving seem like they might be lost in all the other stopovers not to mention the lost time.

Dont mind stop overs or boat ride. Mainly money im trying to save. Where do i get cost and details regarding the boat ride? can you get there cheap from kuala lumpur as thats the cheapest flight from australia using air asia. ??

Will see what other airlines there are. or would do a cheap phuket to kho samui flight but they still charge $200-400??? its such a short flight i dont get it. Will see what you guys have suggested and go from there. Any other suggestions?

Best i could do so far is 2 options:

Goldcoast -> Kuala Lumpur Return $1132 AUD

KL - > Koh Samui $322 Return AUD

Or

KL - > bangkok $240 Return AUD (but then there is cost of the overnight train which is ?????)

Anyone able to give me details of this train?

Maybe check Kuala Lumpur to Hat Yai, and then a bus to Samui. Haven't tried it but suspect the flight to Hat Yai will be cheaper and the bus journey not much longer than Phuket to Samui
