:o I visited my Thai consulat (in Milan) last week for advise. I understood it would be very difficult to buy land or property an a foreigner. However, they told me buying just a house or appartment without land was possible and involved filling in just a few forms.

Is this true?!?

It is easy to buy a condominium in Thailand and be the registered owner. Use a decent lawyer to take care of your interests.

There is a limit of 49% on the total foregn ownership of the condo block,

otherwise you will be OK.

If the price is right and it is a new condo the purchase might help you in obtaining a Non Imm visa.

Make sure you use a good lawyer.

Since 27 April 2004, foreigners or majority-owned companies may own up to 100% of the aggregate space of a condominium in specific areas, including the Bangkok Metropolitan area and its surroundings, and other special zones such as Pattaya.
