terdsak_12 Posted November 16, 2004 Posted November 16, 2004 Just for you fellas who may have a nasty overstay that you want clearing up. Went to immigration yesterday at Suan Plu armed with 20,000 Baht and another 1,900 Baht for a 10 day extension, I went with my brother in-law who's a copper who did all the walking around for me, the boys in brown there didn't seem to bothered, filled out the forms, gave me my receipts, took the money and sent me on my way, funny that the guy who took the 20k shoved it in his pocket, not in any till!! anyway got a receipt. I also took a plane ticket with me just to make sure, but they weren't too bothered with that too. All in about an hour, and I was in a bar in Silom having a beer. Easy.

terdsak_12 Posted November 16, 2004 Author Posted November 16, 2004 I wouldn't have done it by myself, probably better to clear things at the airport, I needed to guarantee I can return with no problems though.
withnail Posted November 16, 2004 Posted November 16, 2004 Good job you did a guy I knew (not a close friend) got caught on an overstay a few weeks ago and has since been deported.
bluebear Posted November 16, 2004 Posted November 16, 2004 and just why did you overstay - a case of couldntbebothereditis or a real reason? Would have thought if you wanted to come back you would have made sure your visa was ok.
astral Posted November 17, 2004 Posted November 17, 2004 Better not to get in the situation. Always make sure you visa is current, and if necessary that you are visiting immigration every 90 days.

withnail Posted November 17, 2004 Posted November 17, 2004 There has to be an issue with braincells as well if you really want to stay in a country that bad and simply don't bother paying a few hundred baht to get to the border and back.

I'm too busy drinkin' them changers and bumming round.

Then the dunce's can't quite see why the Thai hold them in such high disregard. Not to mention making it that much harder for the compliers.
bluebear Posted November 18, 2004 Posted November 18, 2004 So a spot of illegality is the way to go. There seem to be quite a few here who are flouting the law and are proud of it and I dont just mean Thai law judging from the posts cheering on that Aussie bloke who was on the immigrations most wanted thread.
monochaser Posted November 18, 2004 Posted November 18, 2004 Most of us are supremely lazy but we still manage to make 28 day visa runs to poipet, chang in hand. Thailand needs to introduce a new type of visa called the Non Imm B or Bum Around visa
medicinebox Posted November 18, 2004 Posted November 18, 2004 how long was the overstay? <{POST_SNAPBACK}> Yes, how long??? By the way, I think it a bit unprofessional printing the name of the office. After all these guys could have beasted you. Edit it out, you don't know who is reading this.
withnail Posted November 18, 2004 Posted November 18, 2004 Who is reading this do you mind me asking?

He's got this nasty overstay, in law who is cop, pays his 20k and then is slamming changs an hour later. Is he suggesting that anyone can do this? I don't understand this thread.
