Ended a 4 year relationship a year ago and have been dating some new thai guys but might now change strategy. Since I am living in Thailand permanentley it would be easy to go for a Thai guy but believe right now I want to find a westerner instead due to the bakground, value system etc that would make life a bit easier... Is this possible in Bangkok? I dont want to move back to Europe because of this sudden change in preferences.

I guess the farangs in soi 2 & 4 mostly looking for Asians or am I totally wrong? Where and what are the natural hangouts for westerners looking for westereners in BKK? Any advice will be good enough to try. Tired of living alone, been there, done that now.

Taking a new step to a LTR :o and therefor moving up to BKK from the south in a few weeks. Cherio Stef

I'm not gay but unless you're young and handsome no farangs would like to be with you.

All I see in Thailand is 50+ old farangs together with 18-30 year old thais.

If you ask me mission impossible.

I am 30 y/o american and I get hit on regularly at DJ by other farang. This is apparently hard for some people to believe, but not all farang are in Thailand to find young BFs... some people actually enjoy the city, and some are there because they have a very good job... whatever the reasons, it is very possible. I would stay stick to DJ to find westerners... Silom isn't just where farang go to find Thai, it is also where farang know they will find other farang.

Good luck!

Your profile doesn't give any clues how old you are and so on. So, it's difficult to say but I know some people who have found sexual encounters and more at least on Pattaya. Some of them were older folks and got attention from younger lads so everything is possible. Not all are into Thai men either. Not talking about experience, though. :D

I guess a nice conversation in gay orientated hotel/bar/cafe/by-the-pool would do the trick. The problem, I guess, is that most gay establishments are discos and go-go-bars and its very difficult to have any conversation whatsoever due to circumstances. I think You are not alone in your quest to have conversation and other benefits what comes to mutual backgrounds and cultural things.

What comes to ending a relationship, that's a difficult hurting period afterward anyway. So, slow approach is recommended. Or banging your brains out, whatever suits you.

Good luck. Maybe your new bf waits around the next corner. The best thing is to keep a positive mind and keep the 'search mode' on. That way you glow the right kind of feeling towards people. :o

My experience as well and I am, like, waaaaaaaay over 30. You might indicate that you are looking for a western partner on websites such as gaydar, silverdaddies and others. I have met a number of westerners on these and other sites who are traveling to Thailand and made some good friends as a result.

Even though it is kind of like going to a somtam shop and asking for a Big Mac hamburger, you can try asking for a western man. At least if you and he speak the same language fluently, you can have the opening conversation. You might have far more in common, also.

I'm well in to my 40's and good shape and I also get hit on regularly here by the "odd" farang! I'm always surprised but as somebody else said, not all gay foreigners are here for Thai Bfs but there job sent them or in my case I work with many gay farang who are just on layovers here and are not interested in hooking up with Thai but prefer other foreigners.

DJ as someone said is good as well as the gym.

In my case I prefer asian but can appreciate the odd farang!

balo is correct. You have a mission impossible here. Better to go shopping in Europe and then return to Thailand with your find. You have gone to the hardware store to look for vegetables.

It is difficult to meet "sophisticated" gay farangs here in Bangkok. By sophisticated, I mean with style, money, decency, and dare one say it, with "class". I'm not looking for a lover or a f/b, but rather a couple with like-minded interests, excluding sex. (I'm in a LTR and very happily so.) I don't even know where to look. We just want decent friends to meet up with for good dining, drinking and harmless fun.

My experience also but as a 101% Rice Queen I am definitely not interested in other farang.

But some of these farang are very pushy and don't seem to understand that 'No Thanks' means exactly that. This is particularly the case with some Arabs who for some strange reason don't understand verbal or body language and just keep pestering; sending over drinks; butting in when I'm with Thai friends or just stalking me.

If you are looking for another foreigner then good luck but please don't become a pest.

Are you with a thai guy? May i ask your age? I am 27yo GWM with 24 year old thai. We also don't know many people like you mention. I live in bangkok on a part-time basis, spending about a quarter of the year in thailand on regular 6 to 15 day stints. the bf is there all the time at the moment. we have a place together. We dont know any other young(ish) thai/white couples in thailand. I socialise with a lot of his thai friends but sometimes its difficult to have a full on conversation when Thai is spoken predominently. anyway, i understand how you feel! maybe we should organise a thaivisa gay meet one day

What a great idea...I always wanted to go to one of Thai Visa meet ups but was not sure one of the gay members would be really welcome.

I have been to several ... this is Thailand the worst of the bigots never come this far!

(but to be fair --- I wouldn't bother with a gay TV meetup)

hehehe....

Including me na? :o Just want to add that once (and only once!) i have been "hit on" by another Farang at DJ. He was roughly twice my age, rather more than that (i'm 34 end of next week) and also wouldn't move from my side after previously having tried with my (Thai) boyfriend.

@kek

Where is it that one can get "pestered" by Arabs? me likes, xixixi... never seen any GAY Arabs around.

Kind regards.....

Not all the older farangs in Thailand are exclusively rice queens. For me, its a when in Rome thing. I prefer Spaniards.

No, I'm with a Japanese guy. I should also mention that we're in our early 50s and retired, and would prefer to meet people of similar age, as that tends to make for similar interests.

well, I know this thread has been quiet for a while, but I'd like to know if there are - similarly to the DJ and Babylon - places in Chiang Mai where I am more likely to bump into fellow farangs.

I am moving to CM from April, and I am doing it so because of a job, and though they can be cute Thai boys wouldn't be my first choice either.. So if there are any more pestering arabs around just send them up north :))

seriously though, any tips on such venues?

I'm in my 40's (good shape) and get approached by other farangs in Silom -But these guys tend to be on holidayh. I work/ live here (plus, I prefer masculine Asians). If I were you, I'd go on Gay Romeo or some other network and put down what you are looking for. See what happens. True, it will be harder in BKK or Pattaya to find "potatoes" wanting "potatoes".

DJ Station, Silom Soi 2. An old standby of the gay Bangkok tourist.

There are a number of other gay locations around Bangkok, but they are not central, accessible, nor particularly English-language capable. You can look at the pinned thread on locations- which has a few of the more Englishy-speaking ones- or you can search online for other potential options (the Dreaded Ned site isn't updated often but has a reasonable selection). If you haven't managed to locate DJ, I would stay with the tourist mainstream a while longer until you develop some more language skills and familiarity with Bangkok.
