Is that goofy rule about $20,000 or greater xfer into a Thai bank still in force? Where the bank holds a percentage of the money (for a year if memory is correct).

Should I play it safe and inform the bank before the xfer? (Money is being used to buy land).

No they dont hold back money - just put on the tranfer the 'reason' ( purchasing land
