I presume Thaksin has a few chums on the board - either his own men, or others who allowed him to take over the club in the first place. It's merely posturing on Thaksin's part and he wants to be able to say the club want him.

It was suggested that abramovich took over Chelsea in order to raise his profile and make it more difficult for the Russian government to prosecute him if they so decided. I wonder if Thaksin had similar thoughts.

Or maybe he's fed up with the team's results already this season!
