Non Imm Ed Visa And Permanent Residency

Featured Replies

Hi there,

Could anybody tell me if getting a 1 year ED visa (to study Thai language) 3 years in a row qualifies for the permanent residency requirements?

TIA,

-m

Must have been on extension of stay.

mcombes, even three years of extensions of stay for studying the Thai language would not qualify you for Permanent Residency.

Thanks for your reply, Maestro.

However, I read from the info published on the Thaivisa website that:

Qualifications of an applicant:

1. An applicant must have received permission for yearly stays in Thailand on a non-immigrant visa for at least of three years prior to the submission of an application for permanent residency. Holders of multiple NON-Immigrant visas can not appy. You must have 3 un-broken yearly extensions in order to qualify.

2. An applicant must be holding a non-immigrant visa at the time of submitting an application.

The above may or may not be reliable info, but are stating a fact?

Thanks,

-m

An applicant also has to have a record of paying a lot of Income Tax.

You are confused by a requirement to apply for consideration. To obtain PR requires much more than being here for 3 years on extensions of stay.

Your 3 years of extensions of stay fulfills one of the application criteria! but then there are the tax payment requirements as well as others!
