I just wanted to alert everyone that there is a crooked travel agency out there that you should avoid. They go by Eight and Seven company and D Best Holding. I bought a plane ticket from them and had to cancel the return. They've had my money for almost 2 months according to the airline, but they told me they were waiting for the airline to pay them before they could pay me. They are continuing to delay paying me as much as possible, with a new excuse every day. These people are bad news and should be avoided.

Maybe get the airline to put it in writing and confront them.

Yep, that is what I would do, and if you have a policemanfriend, take him along for the confrontation, just as an innocent bystander...

You said: "They've had my money for almost 2 months according to the airline, but they told me they were waiting for the airline to pay them before they could pay me. "

Sounds sort of normal to me and not at all unreasonable for a small booking office to do. Had similar happen to me twice, once regarding a refund from EVA and second time from China Air. Since I was dealing with a small travel agent, without much really in cash holdings, they said they had to get the refund from the parent airline office in Taipei, which took 2-3 months. My money was eventually refunded in both instances.

Agree wit Mac.

Used to sell airline tickets and with a refund, usually takes between 2-3 months to get the refund. As the travel agent will submit the claim from the airline. Its usual practice and Thai International are usually the longest with 3 months. Thread starter, you should get your money back and the probable lack of English at the travel agent only confused things even more.

Once bought a ticket with Etihad from Etihad airlines' Head Office. Had to cancel due to poor health. Had to wait 5 months before I got a refund. So, to the original poster: this is normal. Etihad Arilines Bangkok told me that they had to wait for the okay from accounting department based in Abu Dhabi...

Have to agree it's just as likely -- indeed, more likely -- that it's the airline giving you the run-around, not the travel agency.

In any event, when buying a ticket you'll probably turn back for a refund, always buy from the airline direct.

My experience is 5 weeks with Etihad, paid by credit card maybe that made life easier as it was back to the cc
