Theft

In the last year the phone lines have been stolen on several occasions, most people have lost their water meters, even aluminium anti skid strip on the front of stairs is getting ripped off and sold.

Most metal drain covers have been stolen, the brass caps off our underground petrol storage facility have all been nicked, empty two hundred litre drums, two tons of steel at a building project, & we even have to put colour coded and dated cable ties on all the fuel tanks of our trucks to stop the staff syphoning off fuel.

Motorbikes are going at the rate of a couple a day in the local community. Theft has sky-rocketed.

I have been sitting on the computer for half the day reviewing fuzzy night time video footage because of the latest act of thievery from our petrol station......

Two huge gazeebo's. :D Those things made out of large wagon wheels and comfortably seating eight people. It would take eight people to lift one! They have both disappeared, and of course - no-one saw anything. :o

How is petty theft in your area & can anybody top that? :D

Cheers,

Soundman. :D

I’ve been living in Thailand for donkey’s years and never heard of theft of such extremes all in one place.

This doesn’t appear to be the norm. Seems someone has got it in for you or you are involved with the wrong crowd. Try getting rid of some of your associates or moving.

I think you need to read some more of Soundman's posts before making that kind of comment. :o

My wife is from Prachin Buri, Soundman & we visit Kabin often when visiting her relatives/friends. We live in Petchabun now and so far she has not developed any "tea leafing" tendencies.

Last year in this Moo we had many drain covers stolen and I noticed this when walking the dogs and thought it was a dangerous practice. It did not take long for the towns finest to apprehend them as the individuals concerned were attempting to sell the drain covers to the local scrap metal merchant. On the Soi's P A system it announced that the thieves had been caught & sent to the monkey house.

On a more serious note a local man shot and killed an intruder who was attempting to break into his house, it turned out to be the next door neighbours 14 year old son. I see this man often and according to our neighbours no action has been taken against him - so far!

This isn't a strange theft, but it does have an odd conclusion.

My wife had her mobile phone stolen while she was in our shop, the place was full of kids all day and she couldn't remember the last time she saw her phone, so is was going to be a little difficult finding out which one.

It turned out to be remarkably easy, it was the son of one of the other shop owners, she found out when she went into his place the next day to buy food, and he tried to sell her own mobile.

We had the wife's 17 year old cousin who was free to roam the house steal her mobile phone ,we new it was her but she's family how do you takle this one i thought, but the miss's had had enough as some other thing's had gone missing in the house all pointing to her, so she challanged her to drink some water at the temple? this is were if you lie apparently you will die, i thought no chance, but it worked next morning at 6am there was the phone on the garden floor where it had been thrown over the wall in the night, she later came round to confess, so Budda as some real mind power from my experiance.

I'm sorry to here of your loss's Soundman, i too do not trust my staff & think they would sell diesel from our tractor's & Hino without thinking twice, now i have various check methods in place, but its not nice to be all ways on your gaurd, but it was the same in UK with our 20 truck haulage business, gipsy's in the night, our own staff in the day the world is full of thieving Ba**tards i'm afraid.

Take care Shaun.

Well here at my place the thieves waited patiently we built a perimeter wall before visiting our place.

The morning after the workers cemented the wall they called me to show footprints on top of the wall.

Nothing went missing though :D

But some thieves stole two cows from a farm whilst there was a party in the village and the owners were drinking there.

The same night an old man invited a lady from an other village to share his bed. In the middle of the night she went outside to the hong nam to have a pee. She never returned to the man's bed, but his gold disapeared. Next day the family went to visit the woman in her village. Shame to them to accuse an honest woman :o

I was broken into a couple of years ago.

The bigger items you notice immediately. What pi55ed me off was that over the next couple of months every week or two I would need a tool, or a torch or some other small thing. And it was missing :o because the 6a5tard5 had stolen it too :D :D :D, bringing the whole episode back into my consciousness just as I was just getting over it.

[Yes sore head but surprised to wake up with some cash left in my pocket, that's a first!]

Just got back to Jakarta and... someone has stolen the electrical wall socket covers from all 13 of my office plugs. Cant be worth more than 20 000 Rupiah (60 baht ish). Either that or the electrician decided the walls would look prettier with open sockets.. Im 99% certain they were finished before I left.

Not quite as serious as the gazebos.

I dont have anyone with photoshop skill but I think if you posted it in the computers and IT forum, surely someone will be able to advise.
