Is It Possible To Be A Member Of A Thai Government & Not Be Corrupt?

This is more of an interest in your thoughts than any statement of mine.

Can an ambitious party member really survive without getting dirty now & again...very dirty?

Ive heard alot of the construction contracts go to the highest bidder rather than the best firm for the job,but would this be the same for the BIG contracts??

Then theres the police, now i realise theres quite a few good ones, but it stands to reason that there is abit of corruption around. :o

The courts/judiciary in thailand??

The general opinion that its not exactly unheard of for wealthy people to be able to buy themselves out of trouble....big trouble???

Vote buying-It appears that its going on,on both sides so maybe its not all about popularity??

Whenever i see the players in the political scene of thailand,i have to say i'm generally not really thinking fantastic humanitarian selflessly serving thailand, but more self serving individuals who love the power,& pulling the strings, where the most ambitious,& ruthless individuals prosper. Not exactly unique to thailand, but the word Democracy is surely just a front over here,& its all about pandering to the right people,& keeping in with the powerful & influential who want to stay that way, whatever the cost to thailand?

If I wanted to be funny, I would ask "Please define "corrupt" "

Now to put it simple, as a tax payer and contractor point of view :

- Before Taksin, people pay but nothing happend.

- Taksin's in charge : people still pay but projects get off the ground.

Have you heard of the new airport ? Without Taksin, we wouldn't have a new airport.

Make it clear. Whatever happend, you still have to pay. Now, do you want to pay and have something, or just pay ? Do you vote PPP or Democrats ?

I spoke to a Thai student here in London earlier today and he said "politicians want to make politics run like business" meaning they want to make a profit from it.

Companies can provide goods and services and make a profit, but if you just make profit and don't give money's worth then that's just corruption (theft).

Very well put , inflation in general is caused by people who take out far more than they wish to put back in to keep the ball rolling , make a profit yes , but please keep it within reasonable bounds or you may kill the legendary golden goose .
