coastman
Just a short note re a visa run to Perth, Australia. I hold a British passport, rather than go to the UK ( Hull )to get a new one year Non O visa I decided to fly to Perth on Sun 7th Sept, I stayed in a resonable hotel on Hay Street, ( Criterion Hotel $95 Aus) 5 mins walk from the Thai consulate.Consulate only open Tuesdays and Thursdays, 9.00am - 12 Noon. I went to the consulate on Tuesday morning ( 9.00am ) with a signed copy of my girlfriends ID card and a letter of guarentee ( mine was from a Police Colonel, but even a letter from your neighbour, girlfriend, to the best of my knowledge would do ) + the filled out forms for the visa you can get these and pre fill them out from by e-mail [email protected] The cost of the visa was $225 AUS and it was ready by 1.00pm the same day, without any issues. The staff at the consulate polite and easy to deal with. Returned on the 14th Sept ready to stay another year in LOS ! I just wanted to offer my thanks for this posting concerning renewal of 1 yr non immigration 'o' type visas. I was contemplating returning to the UK and renewing my visa at the Hull Thai consulate for the third time. The cheapest airfares I could find either going via Emirates of say via BA/Quantas Hong Kong worked out in the region of £600. Once in the UK you have to get to from Heathrow to Hull and back with at least one night's overstay. In my case since back in the UK I would visit friends etc so I estimated the total cost of the trip would be in the region of £1,000. Instead I have just booked flights to Perth with Air Asia via Kula Kumper for a total of £169.00. My trip will involve a night's stay in KL which is fine since I have never been there before and it must be cheaper than Australia. One thing to note unless you already have a visa for Australia, as a UK passport holder you still need a pre arranged entry agreement (eVistor available at www.immi.gov.au available on line and free). I will resist the temptation to go off on one about visas, my Thai girlfriend having being refused a UK tourist visa. However I don't quite understand the Thai mentality of making you travel well outside its borders to renew your non immigration visa. They do not profit from your travel expenses. I, no doubt like many others, would be happy to pay a premium to be able to renew my visa either within Thailand or somewhere nearby. Also I have managed to arrange to have the visa application completed the same day. If you email the consulate in advance I beleive this is available to anyone. Anyway I just wanted to say many thanks. All I have to now do is pray that Air Asia doesn't go bust in the meantime! Anyone else contemplating doing this trip may well be able to get good deals from Tiger Airways and Jetstar. Air Asia was the most convenient for me living in Chiang Mai. oqpala
Thank you MookyG because I have the same idea.I too applied for the e-visa from the internet all pretty simple process ... The letter of guarantee in the "true" sense is someone who would provide financial assistance in the event you having no money or cannot support yourself in the future, in my case my letter just stated that the guarantor had known me for 8 months, seen my financial status and could see no reason why a years visa should not be issued. The consulate didn't look at any bank books etc that I had with me, so I guess anyone could write the letter of guarentee. thanks that helps a lot Do you know if the letter must be hand-written? Sorry my english is not so good, would something like that be good? To whom it may concern: I, *Thai Girlfriend*, certifies that I have been in a relationship with *oqpala* for 12 months and would like to support his request for a non-immigrant 0 visa for Thailand. I am also aware of his good financial status and can guarantee he can support himself for more than one year. Yours Faithfully.
Mario2008
A simple note like that with a copy of the ID-card should be enough. The note can be typed, as long as it has a signature.
emcee
So were the previous posters/ successful applicants accompanied by their Thai partners when visiting the consulate? Or can this trip be made alone? I'm seriously considering making this trip for the purpose of avoiding Vientiene runs and I want to make sure that I should be able to acquire a multiple Non-O. I am/have: An American Passport Less than 50 (29 y.o.) Thai fiancee, who can provide copy of ID and letter along with these things, the visa fee and and application form, I should be able to get it, correct? Thanks in advance! oqpala
Hello all, I am going next tuesday to the thai consulate in Perth to apply for a multiple non-immigrant 0 visa, based on visiting friend, I am just looking at the visa application now. In the section "Proposed duration of stay" should I put '1 year', doesnt it sound too long? Also in purpose of visit, shoudl I select 'Tourism' or 'Other'. I am quite worried to get rejected, as I am applying for a multiple non-imm O after a triple entry tourist visa. :/ Thanks all!
whatchamacallit
I got my Non-Imm-O with multi entries from Perth last month. For the Proposed Duration of Stay: I put 90 days - as 90 day is the maximum you can stay in Thailand each time you enter the country. Remember you're applying for Non-O with multiple entries. Also Purpose of Visit: "Others" - they know that you're applying this Non-O based on visiting friends. For Current Address: You will need to put the address of the hotel where you'll be staying in Perth. Good luck.
oqpala
thanks a lot for your answer Did you have another type of visa before applying for this non-imm O? Oh and they ask for my current employer, I dont have any do you think thats gonna be a problem? :/ Also did you show a flight ticket that goes out of Thailand 90 days later ? Oups so many questions
whatchamacallit
I've been staying here for the past 3 years and been on Non-Imm-O multi all these years given by the Thai Consulate in Bali until they said NO MORE last September So Perth was the answer for me A bit far and more expensive but hey - beggars can't be choosers I don't think you should worry at all for having (previously) had a double entry tourist visa - the ladies at the Perth Consulate are very nice and friendly and they (probably) couldn't care less what type of visa you had in the past. As for Occupation - I put "RETIRED" which is the truth - again I don't think they care what you put in there - if currently you are unemployed just put "Self Employed". No you don't need to show them airline ticket showing you will be leaving Thailand at anytime in the future. Just be sure you have the following: 1. Your passport 2. 2 current photos 3. Application already filled 4. A letter from you Thai Friend with his/her signature (in English) 5. A copy of his/her Thai ID No fuss no must easy as the wind blows Good luck and enjoy Perth. oqpala
thanks a lot for your fast and nice to hear answer Self employed mmh just afraid that means that I work in Thailand, but yes I heard they are nice women over there Yes thats gonna be an expensive trip, I got used to thai prices by now
whatchamacallit
Self Employed means you own a business back in your home country that's making money whilst you're travelling and enjoying life - trust me for the past 10 year I've been putting either Self Employed and/or Retired on my application and no questions asked :-). Again it's not a biggie whatever job description you put there. If you want to save money and haven't booked any hotels and don't mind roughing it :-) there are many backpakers/hostels in and around the Thai Consulate (Victoria and Hay). But for about $95.00 you can stay at the Criterion on Hay which is about 1/2 a block away from the Consulate. Also the Travel Lodge is just accross the other corner from the Consulate - not sure how much (Maybe around $150.00).
oqpala
great thanks yes I booked the first night at criterion, found a good deal at 60 Australian Dollars I might go to hostels later on, just hope they have security boxes there since I am carrying my expensive camera:P
