The farangs that live in thailand will tend to mix together and either live a life of debauchery (not critiscism) or have thai wife or girlfriend.However it is not true that all the men who come to thailand for the girls are bad people (many are) but a significant number come because they have been sickened by the attitudes of women at home. This also explains why the majority are in the 50+ age group. They dream of a woman with "old fashioned values of loyalty duty and family, to find this in someone 20 years younger is an absolute magnetic draw. Again however, these desires are dreams and we all know that life hardly ever lives up to our dreams (unless you are very lucky like me) Thai women are as human as westerners and have just as many emotions and predjudices, they are just different. Its the same old story, not every bar girl is a slag but neither is she going to be a virgin bride. Agreed with all your points Benjamat - I can appreciate the values you mention although in my case I met my wife in the UK, I'm the younger side of 40 and shes older than me !!! Certainly (unless within family circles) we tend to socialise with other thai/farang couples but there are also a good number of single farangs who work hard have their own appts etc within the social group. Nb-a point here may be that this is in a non-touristy environment. Searachan - can you explain why you say you only meet bad farangs e.g where you meet or what happens and what your expectations are ?? I am sorry if maybe you thought I was saying that all farangs want or have young thai girls, of course there are exceptions to every rule, and thank god for them. I also met my wife in the uk but it was after I had been in Thailand and recognised in some the qualities I regard highly I will also say that this applies to any implied gemeralisation about attitudes of western women. That is where my missus had the good fortune to meet moi. Good advice, go to the race track to meet like minded gamblers. Nothing like sharing a vice together to bond in common interest.
