Mosha
I searched for condolences but could not find what I need. A friend's father has just passed a way, and I would like to tell them I sorry I am. He was a really nice bloke. Can someone help me out with the correct phrase in phoenetic spelling if possible. Mainstream Thai will do, but if someone knows the southern dialect that will be great.

Rikker
ขอแสดงความเสียใจ is the key phrase, roughly "allow me to express my condolences..." Remember: ขอโทษ is never right -- yes, it means "I'm sorry", but it's the wrong kind of "sorry" -- you don't want to apologize for their death! AjarnP
ขอแสดงความเสียใจในการจากไปของ His nameด้วยนะคะ/ครับ There's an addition that some more elderly folk may use as it is more of a 'boran' phrase: Kho hai bai ti chob, ti chob. (I hope he/she is led to a place of their liking) Some may consider this a bit corny, but from my experience the older folks will really appreciate the 'blessing' Condolences on the loss too.
