Some ex-police chief nutter is now trying to gather a mob of serving police officers to attack the PAD at GH. It reminds me more of following an infamous English football team in the 70's and early 80's all the time. But with maybe less organization :o

And I heard that the other team is also gearing up. some PAD supporter with a lot muscles, everyone the same short hairs.

Look like army, smell like army.....

Amazing! So where do you hear all this information that is apparently only privy to you. back up the story with some evidence or don't tell the story at all.

Against his wishes I might add, he is worried about his lady... of course.

So I credit his reports as being 1 degree from 1st hand.

I have been reading the boards and watching the news all day but i saw no such reportand I am always skeptical about many of the rumours that are being banded around. If this report is deemed to be true Thailand is really heading for not just a military coup, but a civil war.

It maybe the right time for the army to get involved otherwise there may be further loss of many lives.

It seems that TOC has a scoop of an interview on another subject also

On another link in TOC

Pol General Salang Bunnag, a former deputy police commissioner claims that a police officer was aiming a gun at an approaching pickup truck that was going to rundown a police officer.

Since the October 7th crackdown took place, pictures of what took place on the day have been widely circulated on the internet and other media.

Police Lance Corporal Nuttawut Changtorn was seen pointing his gun directly at the protesters. He explained that he was indeed pointing a gun, but not at the protesters. Instead Pol Lance Coporal Nuttawut claimed he was aiming at an approaching pickup truck that was obviously going to rundown a fellow police officer.

He added that he did not fire the gun.

Google his name, it would appear that he may be the police equivalent of Panlop. This is definitely not a good sign and interestingly on half the results from Google, Chavalit is mentioned several times. Maybe this is the coup maker.

Which may be JUST what certain parties want...

We got DAAD last time, now a maybe renegaged pol gen...

Or his check came in... sure he sold the house , he can afford a bigger one next week.

Enough pawns and Rooks and Biships may have been shuffled this october

into positions to give certain parties enough confidence to WANT an army move.

And if that's the case then this round will be mak, mak, mai sabai.

Potential factional war between the army it'self, fought in the public ways.

I hope I am wrong....

I am glad to be way off the beaten path.

I you can read: I pointed out that I heard that....Not telling that it is a hard fact. A lot of the Army supports the PAD so it sounds probable to me and I share it here. Even if it is wrong it might be interesting that someone is telling that rumor (with some purpose). If you don't want to hear it, just start looking on the left side, when you read H90 just don't read the posting.

There has been a lot of BS on this thread and much of it needs to be clarified, so in a democracy we are allowed to question. No?

So who killed the DAAD supporter - full face in the front fuc+ing cover of the newspaper the next morning?

You guys want Northern Fuc+ing Ireland here in Thailand??

You don't seem to know how close you are to having just that. As I said in another post, it won't be Somsack the farmer who will come down to Bangkok to 'have a word' with the elites. It will be a rogue elite-turned-commoner - some rich kid within your 'circle' who will turn on you to restore true democracy of one-person-one-vote.

It ALWAYS starts this way, and there is no turning back after that. Old families, be warned - do not risk your grandchildren to end up in a Belfast-situation.

You don't realise how close you are to that. YOU WILL BE THE CRIMINAL FOR YOUR GRANDKIDS' SUFFERING. Can you live with that? Can you?

It's time to share the country. You are not omnipotent. And your importance in your own mind alone.

What's wrong with Ireland, Belfast, etc? I admit I have never travel that far. However I been to the Irish pub in Patpong. They seems to be friendly and loving people that serves cola with a head. Music is a wee bit too loud, and definately I see no division nor fighting even though most people looks drunk after a few pint of cola with head.

One more thing. Can anyone enlighten with what "TOC" stands for. I must be a wee bit slow. Does not seems to be able to figure it out. :o

It is expected that Somchai will be granted the royal audience to brief His Majesty on the Tuesday's violent crackdown on protesters.

The King is staying at Klai Kangwon Palace in Hua Hin.

There has been lots of speculation about coups, and the Armys reluctance to get involved. I wouldn't be in the least surprised if one of the factors influencing the Generals is some disquiet about just how reliable the army may be for the sort of sustained internal security role which a coup may require. Virtually all of the soldiers are conscripts, the vast majority are from the rural areas, (middle class urban kids are I understand often successful in avoiding national service), and they are unlikely to view ejecting the Government that their parents voted for with much enthusiasm. I am not talking about mutinies or open revolt, but the Generals may well be reluctant to deploy such troops in an operation which may be opposed by the majority of the people. Although the Royal Thai Army does seem to have an inordinate number of Generals, I don't think they have enough to "stag on" at every crossroads in Bangkok! :o

Police denies using pistol

A police officer who was filmed aiming a pistol during the crackdown on the People's Alliance for Democracy on Tuesday insisted he was aiming his gun at the tyre of a pick-up truck, but in the end he said he did not fire a shot. Police L/C Natthawut Chanthorn admitted yesterday that he was the officer captured in video clips and media photos during the crackdown on anti-government demonstrators. He is attached to the 191 Special Operations Police Division which was sent to parliament on Tuesday. The officer said he saw a pick-up truck racing towards police with the intention of hurting them. He said he intended to shoot out the tyre of the vehicle to stop it in order to save his colleagues. But the truck changed course and sped off and he did not pull the trigger, Natthawut said.

No Bangkokrick - just a reply in general to those who keep trying to find a reason to support the PAD.

So you are saying one Buddist Sect will be taking on another Buddhist sect, to the death,

over which Buddhist leader historically was correct?

And I suppose whether China can control Bangkokand the north of Thailand, and Malaysia the south.

Other than entrenched violence there parallels stop there.

Why do you imagine that the backing of PAD is much different than most of the last 50 years of Thai life.

They are better informed lower down the social scale now, and that has moved more to activate themselves.

The super rich will ALWAYS proitect their interests, and always have a level of corruption,

but this country is firmly capitalist, top to bottom, after 50+ years of hard incdoctrination,

the people aren't going to suddenly rally round some uber-socialist flag and take down the rich Chinese.

This is not 1917 Russia, this is not Venusualia or Bolivia, totally different histories

and totally different intellectual elite theoriticians too.

This is a war between Thaksin and his proxies and the older guard for Thaksin's money and lost power.

Thaksin for the monny and lost face, and the others to wrench power back.

If Thaksin wins there will be hel_l to pay, I have NO doubts,

if they old guard wins the old ways won't return as they were, that ship has sailed

but something most Thais can recognizes as normal will eventually settle into place.

The BIG worry is Thaksin's maneuvering more of his pawns in the army into place

at the beginning of this month. Added to his already entrenched police power,

how much control does he now have... HOW MUCH DOES HE THINK HE HAS TO GAMBLE WITH??

He has had the makings of EXACTLY the kind of mad dictator you fear,

but from the opposite direction. Yet he STILL has used the poor of Issan as his weapon.

Just as YOU describe in your hypothetical scenario.

You are really missing the greater present danger, and seeing a hypothetical one of the future.

The current problem in many ways resembles your fears as much or more than your hypothetical one.

I just don't know why you can not see the present one.

Shoot the messenger because it isn't dressed like you want, but invite the aggresive thief into the house.

Ireland/Thailand is apples vs pommegranites,

both round and red, but open it up and taint the same.

Angkhana Radappanyawut

Low quality grenade took Angkhana's life * at this juncture, the headline, IMO, should be prefaced with "It's possible that" *

The explosive power of a low-quality tear gas grenade was initially thought to have caused the death of Angkhana Radappanyawut, who died from massive internal bleeding hours after Tueday's merciless onslaught by riot police on unarmed demonstrators. Dr Wirat Panichpong, who is a member of a National Human Rights Commission (NHRC) sub-commitee probing whether any high-powered explosive devices, besides tear gas, were used to disperse the protesters, said preliminary autopsy results showed the cause of 28-year-old Angkhana's death could be a low-quality Chinese-made tear gas grenade which packs a powerful enough blow to kill a man. The standard US-made tear gas grenade does not explode, but only releases smoke. However, further examinations are needed to be conducted on samples taken from her body before the results can be confirmed. Dr Vicharn Priawnim, Chief of the forensic laboratory unit at Ramathibodi hospital, said her body has a big wound and burn marks from soot which leads to the theory that she was hit by something with high explosive power. Khunying Pornthip Rojanasunan, Director of the Central Institute of Forensic Science, who is leading a separate probe team and collecting vital evidence from the scene of the clashes, said it is a known fact that when a standard tear gas grenade is fired it does not have the power to mutilate a person, but it could be a different story if the tear gas was of low quality and used in an improper way.

A small quote from the Bangkokpost, which does have merit:

Meanwhile, a PAD guard known only as Klae who lost his right leg in the violence said the guards had only masks and the clothes they wore to protect them from tear gas fired by police.

"If we had grenades, why were there only PAD protesters having their legs and arms blown off?" he asked.

I don't recall reading anywhere that any police or border patrol had been maimed by a grenade. It does say a lot about which side was throwing the bombs/grenades at at whom.

South Thailand dead more than 3,300 lives, since 2001 as of June 9th 2008.

7 years and same body count.

If it went on as long as N.Ireland how many more would die?

Estimate at present rate close to 12,000... Horrible.

I would believe it someone said that some policemen were injured to some degree by a grenade... considering the video linked a few posts above...but, then again, a policeman threw it.

Prime Minister Somchai Wongsawat postponed his official visits to countries in the Association of the Southeast Asian Nations (ASEAN) indefinitely.

No reason of the postponement has been explained to the public.

As usual slowly, it's leaking that "there are 2 kinds of grenades, chinese which explode and american which do release smoke only"!

The 22 years old Policeman with the gun in the VDO did NOT belong to the anti-riot group, but did drive a truck with "special equipment, to protect this, he carried a gun, when he was cought on VDO aiming, he did aim at the tires of the truck who was in an attempt running over another policeman, besides his gun never discharged!"

Meanwhile Abhisit says that he is skeptical about the government to set up an 'independent' probe panel to investigate the bloody clash and the use of teargas grenades.

Should someone get the Myth busters or better the ghost busters?

If a rifle powered grenade was launched horizontally,

and DIDN'T hit any PAD in the pelton,

then it easily could have continued on, took a bounce

and gone right into the poor girls ribcage with enough force

to break ribs and cause massive internal bleeding.

The trouble is that you are so wedded to a particular viewpoint that your comments don't carry much weight I'm afraid. If you sometimes expressed doubts over reports that support your position you would be taken more seriously.

In this instance you make a fair point though the evidence seems to be weighted that the problem was the substandard quality of tear gas grenades and poor crowd control/dispersal techniques.Let's see if an independent inquiry can establish the truth. My view is that the PAD all along has been eager to find victims or martyrs for propaganda purposes and this poor girl is being exploited for that reason.Actually this Horst Wessel attitude was something I noted some time ago, and is consistent with fascist street tactics.

Frankly the activities of street thugs (and I'm certainly not putting Khun Angkhana in this category) on whatever side is of marginal interest in the wider scheme of the current struggle.Only the most partisan would disagree that there has been bad behaviour on both sides. But let's not forget that the security forces were upholding the law and the PAD leadership and mob were breaking it.

which all sounds commendable... except when watching the footage, there are no pick-ups... nor any vehicles... in front of him when he says he was "aiming at a pick-up's tires."

There seems to be a video which shows a PAD truck ploughing into a line of police men. I can't find it on YouTube. Does anyone have more information about it?
