Non O Extension

Featured Replies

I work (shipping company) outside Thailand for about 3 months and will be back in Thailand for about 3 months.

Here on a non-O which will expire next feb.

Do I qualify for extension of stay when I leave the country for 3 months every time?

If you have a multiple entry visa you get 90 days each entry. As long as you leave and re-enter up to a day before the expiration date you will get 90 days. The period of time out of the county does not matter.

If you are on an 1 year extension of stay that expires in Feb. and get a re-entry permit your extension of stay will still expire on the same date in Feb.

Thanks for quick reply.

But I want to know if an extension of stay is possible and accepted by immigration when I need to leave Thailand every 3 months.

I stay here only about 3 months at a time.

This extension of stay (or renewal) will come in feb when this visa I have now expires.

Edit: Starting all over.

As long as you get a multiple re-entry permit it will have no affect your new application for extension. I assume this for marriage and your work supports your wife. There will be no problem with that.

Thanks ubonjoe.

You got me worried for a minute.

But now see your 'Edit Start all over' message.

Yes it is for marriage and support wife.

I will try the extension (multi entry) next year.

Thanks again

Glad to help.

After re-reading your reply I got it.

Be sure and go to immigration and apply for the multiple re-entry permit (3800 baht + photo) before leaving.

Edit: With your schedule though you might only need a single entry this time (1000 baht) since permit is only valid for as long as your extension is.

Shouldn't be a problem for extension.

Sorry for worry.

Bare in mind that when you apply you will have to go back to Immigration in 30 days to get the result.

Bare in mind that when you apply you will have to go back to Immigration in 30 days to get the result.

...and this could be problem for the OP. The immigration office accepts the application for extension of stay only during the last 30 days of his 90-day permission to stay, he gets a stamp saying that his application is under consideration and must report to the office again after 30 days but by that time he will be out of Thailand again.

amphur, I think you should go to immigration office and ask what they suggest based on your travel schedule, if they can make an exception and accept your application earlier or better even give you 3 months to go back to the office to pick up the extension approval.

The single biggest problem in communication is the illusion that it has taken place

Meastro is right.

Once you start the extension procedure you must stay around to see it out,

or at the least be back by the date given in the Under consideration stamp,

remembering to get a re-entry permit.

The same applies once you have the annual extension, you must be around at the expiry

date to see the renewal through.

Thanks all for this advise.

I think I will be out of the country when this visa expires.

So might be a problem to go for extension and wait for 30 days for the result.

Might be a problem every year.

I will go to immigration office later this year to check out what my options are.
