Hair Colour

Featured Replies

My wife dyes her hair, and has been searching Bangkok for Clairol nice'n easy natural light ash blonde (number 102), for what seems like an eternity (to a man anyway!) but without success. Does anyone know where she can buy this product? Many thanks for any help: just remember you are probably saving my sanity!

It is tough to find the lighter colors. I sympathise. I remember reading someone mentioned a beauty salon supply store over by the Big C opp Central World in Bangkok. I plan on looking for it in the next day or so and will report back here if I have any luck (or not :o ). Sometimes some of the bigger Boots or Watsons will have a good selection, and the big Tesco Lotus might as well.

yeah i have been meaning to look for that place too- would be nice to hear if you found it SBK!

OK, found it! It is a big store and they have lots and lots of hair colors, and blond ones too.

Prices aren't too bad, you can buy the kits with the developer included or straight color. It is on the same side as Gaysorn Plaza, past the Big C, past the building being torn down. Turn down the soi that has a Bangkok Bank on the corner and its not too far down, on the right hand side. Can't miss it as it's got big signs for wella and stuff outside. :o

She told me they are moving next year to the corner of New Petchaburi Rd and soi 31.

Even got a card :D

If a gay blond man in northern Thailand may tag onto this topic, I have a novel in which a man like myself, naturally blond but in this case dyed black to the roots. After hiding away in Mae Hong Son province, he is airlifted back to BKK. During that flight of less than 2.5 hours in a Lear Jet, his hair must be restored to blond, including the pony tail, very thick hair. Can a good stylist do the job in a couple of hours, or must he show up to an international super-star return with funny colored, wet hair?

Thanks very much for all your work in finding this outlet. My wife will be on her way soon.

To answer PeaceBlondie's question, first the dark color should be stripped out and then the stripped hair can be colored. That's two different chemical operations and can be hard on the hair, but it can be easily done in a couple of hours.

One good thing about going grey is that now my hair can be colored in just one chemical operation vs. what I had to do when I decided to live life as a blonde when in my 20s.

Thanks, NancyL. So I do not need to change tne novel, including when Carly Simon tells reporters, "He flew his Lear Jet to northern Thailand, to see the totally gay Thai boy." :o

Best way is to have the hair colour sent from overseas. I always stock up as they can never get the colour right, or go back home to have it done.

PeaceBlondie, to have your hair back to blonde you would need at least four hours in a salon, depends how long it is. The things girls have to go through.

Sorry didn't read properly, you're a guy, sorry again.

Well, it's been a while since I dyed my light red/brown hair to light blonde. Now it's just grey, so it's simply a once-step process to keep it light red/brown. I think that in the interests of realism for his novel, Peace Blondie should have a pro dye his hair deep burnette and then travel to someplace like Tesco and purchase the retail products that promise to turn dark hair to blonde and attempt to use them himself. It's really just a matter of following the directions and having a watch.

I remember doing this with college friends and having coloring parties in our dorm. As I recall, it didn't take more than a couple hours to take dark hair and turn it blonde. But, that was a long time ago, so my memory may be foggy.

I just had my grey hair professionally colored. I timed it and found it took longer than doing it at home with a Loreal product. Of course, the results are better, but I still had to wait while the colorist took personal phone calls and discussed local gossip with other customers.

My natural color is dark blonde -- or I should say, was. Now fighting the battle of the grey and it's driving me crazy and wrecking havoc with the condition of my hair.

My biggest aggravation is the hair at my temples. No matter what I do, within a week to 10 days I have white at the temples again. Have tried many different products from overall color to things that promise to cover only the grey.

Also, seems to me that on totally white hair I shouldn't have to use compunds with peroxide since there is no color to be stripped away, only added, and these products are seriously drying out my hair. The Thais have black colored products they use for this but of course nothing in my shade. I have tried Clairol's "Loving Care"products that are supposed to be for this but the temple area barely takes uo the color and a week to 10 days later, white again.

Any suggestions other than growing old gracefully (which, as you may gather, I am just not ready to do!)???

My sister's hairdresser told me to put some of the developer on the stubborn areas, believe it or not. She said it helps the hair to absorb the color better. Also, be sure to 1. put the color there first, middle and last and 2. I comb it in thoroughly.

I went gray at 26, so have been coloring my hair for a while now and still get the white temples, of course, I also get the white roots too so I color my hair every 3 weeks or so. Two days before I color my hair I leave coconut oil in it for at least 3 hours, over night is even better. And then, two days after the color, I oil again. I also try to oil my hair at least twice during the growth period, it helps with the straw texture problem.

Sorry, but the time sequence in this novel is easy when the blonde hair goes to black, but not for the reverse. Only 2.5 hours in a Lear Jet, and then he goes public on every news channel in the free world. Well, considering that Thailand almost falls into the abyss at this point in the story, nobody is going to notice the exact tint of the hair.

I think it can be done, PB. Stripping takes about an hour or so, dyeing another half an hour.

Thanks, I'll try it. Would never have guessed that the white hairs needed developer of all things...!
