Just surfing through, on my way to posting my own question when I came across this section. Hope I can help someone.

We abuse our livers in many ways and alcohol is just one of those ways. For anyone, particularly those who are concerned through drinking, may I offer this as I don't see it on Thaivisa: Some natural and EASY ways to cleanse your liver AND feel great!

NUMBER ONE: Active yeast. (a baker will sell it if you ask - or buy in supermarket packs) It contains B vitamins and Pangamic acid, absolutely vital for proper liver functioning, and it reduces inflammation. Mix with warm water (a spoonful or two) and take on an empty stomach twice daily. I drink plenty of water first thing in the morning then drink the yeast, then drink water again for 10-20 minutes. I promise you, this WORKS!!

)OK, then I have a coffee - what I REALLY wanted all along - but I drink more water after that).

Next: Carrot and Tomato juice. Make your own. Buy the best and freshest (you're worth it!!), and get a juicer. 3-4 carrots and a couple of tomatoes. Scoff that an hour or so after the yeast. Alkalize your blood and clean out your system. These juices EXCEL at doing just that. Now you are really groovin' . . .

Want to add some antioxidants? Ground Chillies are THE MOST POTENT SOURCE! Spice it up! A jar in a super here costs 30 baht!

Breakfast? SAY NO to bacon, eggs and the like. Eat any kind of fruit you like. Plus yoghurt and some VERY HEALTHY wheatgerm on top. AM I MAKING SENSE HERE??

When you get hungry mid-morning, choose oats - with half water / half milk - soy best. Buy Pecans, sunflower and pumpkin seeds to sprinkle on top. Cinnamon is a VERY healthy spice to add flavour. Now, you aren't hungry, are you?

After that . . . ? Up to you. Go for it. But KNOW that you've started your day right. Get the habit. You'll feel great.

Things like pizza, burgers, chips, coke . . . cake, chocolate, biccies . . . well you know, don't you? Eat LESS!

Microwaves KILL vitamins and nutrients. Avoid them!! EAT RAW - EAT FRESH. Get to like bananas, apples and dried fruit.

You know, a few beers are one of life's joy's. It's all the crap we're exposed to that causes us problems.

When you eat, think what your body needs. Ignore the media.

I knew you'd understand . . .

Hey, I'm drinking a beer now. I love the stuff (in moderation).

The sub-forum you have posted this in is one for people with a drinking problem.. In this context the implied message that it's OK to keep drinking is potentially very harmful.

People with alcoholic cirrhosis (or other liver impairment for that matter) need to completely abstain from alcohol -- no exceptions.

The dietary advice is certainly healthful (although perhaps not as miraculous in effects as implied) and anyone would do well to follow much of it. But the alcohol message, addressed to this particular audience, is unhelpful at best.

I think that bullying people into toeing a party line on complete abstinence just alienates a lot of people who are trying to moderate their alcohol intake, and for whom maybe their problem isn't severe alcoholism.

Maybe its helpful for the severe alcoholics to understand that some people can drink in moderation, but they can't. And when you walk past half-a-dozen Heineken and Johnny Walker signs on the way to the bus stop, having someone else say he drinks in moderation isn't the biggest temptation you're going to face today.

People that are going to kid themselves that they can cut down a little, when they can't, have to try... and find out the hard way.

(apologies for discussing moderation, I know its a taboo topic)

No problem SC, I was really just being a poster in what I said more than a Moderator.

My comment was with respect to people with liver impairment as a result of their drinking and has nothing to do with any "party line" with regard to alcoholism or drinking behavior. For that matter, people with no drinking problem at all but with damaged livers from other causes likewise need to totally abstain.

Thanks for pointing out my error. To suggest moderation to an alcoholic is plain wrong as it simply is not possible. I apologise to any of you out there who might have taken offence.

However, I'll stand by the rest of my post as being helpful to anyone (and that's most of us) who at one time or another got into a lifestyle where drinking began to have a deleterious effect on our liver and health. A natural cleanse really works to aids the liver to repair itself. The health benefits that ensue can be most wonderfully felt and observed.

PS Any way of editing the original post to remove one or two sentences? As moderator are you able to do that?
