You will have to get a tourist visa. Without a visa you need to show a ticket out of the country within 30 days. Without a visa the airline might refuse you to board, since you do not leave within 30 days. Officialy they have to check if you have the right travel documents. I must say not all airlines do check.

Maybe you can change the return date at the airport or book a cheap one way ticket BKK-Laos or whatever from a pricefighter. Up to you if you use it or not, but you need to do a border run or visa run anyway.

so if i was able to change the return date to 16 december that would be ok?

i have limited funds so am just wondering if wanted to stay longer could i buy a tourist visa from another country if i left before the 30 days and then returned

my airline say i can't change the outgoing date they are all full and i have to use it by dec 9th a fact they ommitted to mention when i booked it in the summer

Yes, if you change the return date you would be ok.

The problem is that without a visa you need to have proof at check-in at the airport in the form of a ticket out of the country within 30 days. Without it they might not let you board. It is their duty to check it. Some airlines check very strict, some don't check at all.

Note that a one way ticket out of Thailand with for example air asia also wouldn't be expensive. With one, you would be safe. As said, you could just not use the ticket and throw the money away or use it to get a visa and stay longer in Thailand.

Yes a flight out of Thailand within 30 days will do the trick.

Then you can get a Visa . Maybe Penang or KL.

I am working offshore. And have been doing so for the last 21 years. I travel in and out of Thailand every five weeks on one way tickets, and have never ever been asked to show a visa when leaving Europe. Also I have never been asked for a return ticket in Bangkok. They don't even seem to care if I'm within the 90/180 days rule.

Last time I entered they should have given me only 16 days, but they still gave me 30.

Since there have been some changes to my work scedule this time, I went to Vientiane last week and got a double tourist visa.

But normally I just do the 30 days + the 7 days stamp.

It could happend. But I very much doubt that you will have any problems in the airport.(England or Thailand).

I believe it helps to dress politely. If it looks like your down to your last penny, they will probably ask you.

After your 30 days is up, just take a trip to Vientiane and get yourself a double tourist visa.

And you will be good until the middle of june

Better than loosing your ticket.
